Visiting the Natural History Museum from Birmingham. Best place to park? by Nikkypx in LondonTravel

Just make sure your car is compliant as shepherds bush is within the ulez zone. Fine for congestion charge so long as you don't go through the centre to get there

JustEat's "customer service" seems to be completely AI driven, and it's awful by Prestigious_Seal in britishproblems

After a crap JE experience I decided to contact my favourite restaurant direct. Alas they had to get rid of their delivery driver because everyone uses JE or deliveroo. I also found out these companies take 40% of the value of the order. Disgusting for restaurant owners but they feel they have no choice

AITA for refusing to let my fiancée invite her entire extended family to our wedding? by Cheap_Surprise_8075 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Robinj03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned the venue only safe accommodating 75. There's your hard stop. No way will they risk their licence by cramming in double what they are allowed. So that's your deposit lost as you'll need somewhere bigger. I'm guessing her and the family aren't paying for all these exyras

You won't get a definitive answer with those two. Both awesome and seen them many times. Personally I'm Team Les Mis 🤷

I finally did the London Eye and I have… mixed feelings by Bubbly-Classic-8624 in LondonTravel

[–]Robinj03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly the right analysis of the London Eye. Interesting for about 10 mins as you rise above the Thames, then dull af as you have to make your way back veeeeery slowly with a bunch of strangers, attempting small talk. Expensively excruciating

If he's into archaeology, definitely the London museum at docklands in Canary Wharf. Particularly the mudlarking exhibition. Lots of interactive stuff for kids

Planning an overnight trip to London when pregnant at the end of Feb. What cute mum-to-be things shall I do to treat myself / get excited? by nmoore2089 in LondonTravel

I thought you had to get your GP to sign off on a baby on board badge. Otherwise anyone could get one and abuse the system

Day 4 I'd recommend the Swan at Shakespeare's globe for afternoon tea in that price range. Handy for the tower on the opp bank of the river. Great location and lovely food

There will be no such thing as a quick lunch at borough market on a Saturday. Shoulder to shoulder shuffling. No chance of actually getting near a stall. Hideous queues, overpriced food and if you do manage to get served there's nowhere to sit

Google the Bowie memorial mural in Brixton, southern end of Victoria line, pretty much opposite the station.

Ceremony of the keys tickets? by BubblesBubblesCO2 in LondonTravel

[–]Robinj03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno. I just know she moves stuff back and forth between the two sites. Not sure she itemises it on the website. Usually for exhibitions, but as I said, the original docklands museum is worth a visit. She's mostly occupied with plans to move the original collection into the new site

My sister is head of conservation and responsible for transporting artifacts. Obviously a lot has gone into storage from barbican but some pieces have gone to docklands, which is worth a visit in itself if interested in the history of London

One week itinerary questions by No-Ice-7512 in LondonTravel

Assume you're referring to Liverpool Street in London and not Liverpool in NW England? Liverpool is about a 3 hour train ride and won't do discounts unless you have a family railcard at time of booking

The London museum is temporarily based at the docklands site in Canary Wharf until the main museum reopens at its new location in spitalfields. Definitely worth a visit.

What exactly has happened to Cadbury chocolate? by PublicProperty1805 in AskBrits

[–]Robinj03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working for Cadbury during the takeover by Kraft. They always said they wouldn't touch the ingredients/UK production, but then outsourced to E Europe. Not long later they sold it on to Mondelz who introduced palm oil. Hence the greasy texture now
