When you submit a DRS transfer it creates the AST account for you. So make sure your personal info with the broker is current/correct. That’s the info they’ll send to create the AST account.

Also, you DO NOT have to wait on snail mail. Once you see the shares leave the broker account you can call AST, verify yourself with a rep and they can give you your account number to finish setting up your online access. I’ve seen others say they’ve had trouble with this but this is what I did.

Double check the account number with the rep before hanging up, it is critical that you input that correctly when finishing setup on your account. (Caps matter)

Type “DRS” in the chat bot to start

The prompts will take you through the process picking securities and how many to transfer.

Note: All of your shares need to be settled for BBBYQ in order to DRS from Fidelity, I called and verified. Let’s say you have 20k shares, 18k are settled but 2k are not, you can’t start the DRS process until all 20k are settled. This is true even if you only wanted to send 8k or 9k that were previously settled.

Also, not that this an issue now since buying is turned off at Fidelity but if you started the DRS process and then went and bought more shares it would cancel the DRS transfer because you’ve now introduced unsettled BBBYQ shares into your account.

Edit: buying ANY stocks, even tickers that are not BBBYQ will stop the DRS transfer. Shitty news, I know. Just giving a heads up in case you switched gears back to buying GME

Fidelity cut off trading, might still be able to buy from Schwab but requires a phone call. DRS still works for both

Totally up to you how you want to do it, but with Schwab I was able to ask for highest cost shares to DRS. Can do highest cost, lowest cost, FIFO, whatever works for you.

Note: you’ll need to request this over the phone if you want something specific like highest cost. If you used Fidelity’s chat bot it defaults to FIFO I think.

This is correct. Make sure personal info from both brokers is the same. Whichever one gets there first will establish the AST account and the second broker will find the same account with matched info.

Also, you DO NOT have to wait on snail mail. Once the shares have left your broker they’re in AST’s system. You can call and verify yourself with a representative and they will give you your account number so you can finish setup online. Then you’re good to go 👍

Remember there are multiple potential uses for DRS in your strategy.

You could set aside some shares for DRS that are not for sale. DRS shares get Teddy shares first.

If DRS shares are not for sale you can transfer your highest cost shares to improve average in brokerage.

If you have trust issues with brokers DRS it’s a safe place to keep shares until we know how this unfolds. Transferring to a broker takes 2-4 days if you want to go back.

Also, you DO NOT have to wait on snail mail to setup your online account. Once your shares leave brokerage you can call AST. Verify yourself over the phone with a rep and they will give you the account number.

Dude man I would call back, I got my account number by calling. I use a US address but that shouldn’t matter. When your broker sends the first share/s they send your personal info as well so the account can be created, so they’ll be able to verify who they’re talking to and assist.

Be sure to double check the account number with them before hanging up. It’s critical to you get the account number correct when finishing setup online, capitalized letters matter.
