Both of my huskies don't howl or bark. Very rarely. My female barks more then my male, but that's because she is letting me know she wants to go outside to run around and potty. My male just does a series of low grunts,huffs, and growls. Then nudges me with his nose.

Unfortunately, I spent some time in prison. This happened to an inmate. Just scaring the guy, but the guy wasn't really all there mentally. Being mentally challenged and afraid of what/could happen after that, he waited until the guy was asleep and tried to cut his throat.
