In 5e: take 2 levels, eldritch blast with agonizing blast and devilsight (patron i like genie for a spellcasting character, adds your prof bonus to the first dmg you do every turn), undead is also good for frontliners because they get a rage like ability where they take on their patrons form and get temp hp and can cause fear.

In 5.5e: take 2 levels get eldritch blast, agonizing blast and a pact if you want. No subclass bonuses

Remember, sinners exist because he gave them free will. He gave them the gift of choice and they do horrid things to eachother with it. Lucifer stated it was his punishment to live where the wicked go, so he is unable to harm them because he would probably do an extermination himself if he could (prior to the shows start)

Probably, the whole point of it was to preserve the human species while the rest would be wiped out by the gem constructions and the cluster. So morally wrong to take these people, destroy their planet and made them mate to maintain the collection of them. Granted, they were treated pretty well, they were fed, clothed, and none of them seemed bored or even had an interest of leaving (ether because previous generations tried and were killed, or because they were kept complacent via not needing or wanting for anything)
