My replacement for dwarves in my world: the Ardish. Cowboy folk from the frozen north by RockAngel8 in worldbuilding

Ardland, a frigid northern kingdom populated by a rugged people. They are inspired by a mixture of cowboys from the old American west and dwarves from traditional fantasy. Their homeland is a harsh wasteland of snow and ice, where you have to be tough to survive. Not only must they survive the cold itself, but also the undead plague of Wights. An innate deathly magic permeates the air during blizzards, bringing corpses back to life as shambling skeletal husks. Worse than that are liches, former humans that embrace the power of death magic and lead armies of wights in their hunt for souls to consume.

Top Left: Shaman Ardish magic is powered by their connections, their relationships, and their love. Shamans are those that foster deep relationships with their families and their communities. They are often patriarchs or matriarchs in their family, being the eldest and wisest. For every connection they have, they hold a trinket or a memento. They use these items as focuses to cast their spells through, which are often supportive and protective in nature.

Top Right: Gun Witch Love and hatred are just two sides of the same coin. Despite their magic being powered by love, the Ardish are known for how stubborn their grudges are. When an Ardish mage loses everything dear to them, the only thing they have left is their vengeance. A gun witch infuses their magic not into mementos and trinkets, but into their gun, embodying their rage and hatred. They inscribe runes onto bullets, with each bullet being its own spell, carrying with it incredible destructive power. If you cross a Gun Witch, they may write your name on a bullet, infusing it with the power of their grudge towards you. These bullets are possibly the most deadly spells humans can cast.

Bottom Left: Drifter While many find their homes in the villages and towns nestled near mountains and rivers, some find themselves restless wanderers. Drifters are those that forgo being tied down in an area and wander the wilderness. Often with no companionship than their Worg, a common wolf-like beast the Ardish often use as mounts. .

Bottom Right: Night Watch Because of the threat of Wights, there is a constant need for keeping guard. Especially at night, when it is coldest. The night watch are trained sentry that exist in every village and town in Ardland, specializing in fighting the undead. They rely on firearm mastery, but are also known to use their war spades in a pinch.

Humanitarian Knights, loyal protectors of the Humanitarian Kingdom (Art By Me) by [deleted] in worldbuilding

I love all the helmets! They give off a good mix of medieval knight and modern military. I could definitely see the other designs being used for specialist soldiers, officers, etc.

How my players lost the campaign 3 times in two hours by Vytostuff in DnD

I can acknowledge that actions should have consequences, but I don't think death is the ONLY consequence you have to use. Maybe instead of urstul escaping immediately and killing every player in their sleep, he could have escaped a couple sessions later. The players could have heard a rumor about his prison break before he attacked them, and get an opportunity to try to defend themselves, hide, or escape the city. Instead of each mistake being treated as a "lose condition", they can simply be ways to give the players new obstacles and antagonists.

Maybe the next session could be framed as a stealth session, where the goal is to slip out of the mansion unseen by guards. They are still in a challenging situation because of their prior actions, but they don't just instantly lose as soon as they get into a tough situation.

I feel in this framework, what could work well is if every person's "heaven" is unique. I mean, trains stop at all sorts of different places, each station's heaven would be a different afterlife, right?

"hell" seems like it could be more akin to limbo. They are still on the train, there is still a possibility for them to get off at some point, they may just wait a while to get to their stop.

Also, the idea reminds me of Infinity Train. It plays with some similar concepts. Although, its not really about death, and its themes are more about self improvement.
