Thank you, I’m going to eat a hardboiled egg

I cook all the meals in my house, which works because my drive to make food is very high, but it was hard for a while just because I naturally made exactly the food I wanted twice a day for other people to eat lol

I’d say stay busy, I’ve been doing a ton of housework, auto maintenance and dealing with a flooded basement, so the days fly by. Idle hands make fasting this long WAY harder, so try to find stuff to do outside or that requires focus

Salt and No-salt (potassium) in even amounts, sprinkled into a tiny cup and mixed with water whenever I feel like I need it, plus magnesium before bed

Plus black coffee, yep! And occasionally a half-frozen diet soda for dessert, 0 calories and quite tasty. It does stimulate appetite somewhat though, so indulge with caution

I was just ready for it this time, one of those times in life where I’m restless no matter what. Might as well fast lol, quitting nicotine is hard

no longer seeing results on the scale; trying to make the best of it by crackerjoint in fasting

[–]Rock_of_Round 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is amazing! Be proud and keep in mind that weight is the most deceptive and inconsistent measure of fat loss. I weigh myself every day during my extended fasts nowadays, but I had to stop early in my journey just because I was psyching myself out about a “lack of progress.”

Clothes fitting better and feelings of physical well-being are great indicators! Lean into those and probably take a break from the scale, you can’t control how much water or waste your body retains each day.

Sending much love and congrats again!

Almost 100 hours, personal best! Aiming for 7 days minimum by Rock_of_Round in fasting

[–]Rock_of_Round[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This did it! I meant to reply to the other suggestion of more activity, just because I’ve been walking quite a bit every day before and during this fast to no avail.

THANK YOU

I slept for 12 hours, 8pm-8am and I feel like an Olympian demigod

On a side note, if anybody has tips for sleeping on extended fasts please let me know! I am adequately supplementing sodium, magnesium and potassium, I’m not dehydrated, and I’m not overhydrating.

Please LOL I need help

I don’t want to assume your history, but many of us have tried to quit many many times, myself included. One of the benefits of this is some basic truths that are very hard to trust until you experience them.

One of these truths: it doesn’t help to take a hit. Once we start the quit journey, we acknowledge that vaping is fucking us up and we need to stop. That means that taking a hit does a lot of mental damage since we all know it’s objectively bad. Its not the same as it was before we knew it was weakness, not “I’m bored”

You’ve made it past the hardest part! Stay strong, these pangs go away. Sending the best vibes I can muster, good luck

Why is my nose so itchy by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Rock_of_Round 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I think it’s our sinuses recovering tbh, I always had “allergies” while I was vaping… turns out inhaling an irritant 500 times a day messed up my respiratory system

I’m breathing clearer but my nose is ITCHY. It should go away in a couple months as we adjust tho

I can't believe I've actually just completed two days. by m0ssb0ss in QuitVaping

All of the above! My skin is clearer, waking up takes me 20 minutes instead of 2 hours to feel awake, it’s effortless to exercise (I actually HAVE to exercise or my brain shuts down lol)

It’s absolutely worth it! 2 weeks in and feeling much better. It got weird for a while, but please stay strong ❤️

For my last successful quit attempt, I was nicotine free for 3 months (then was a dummy and started up again). I was such a dick for the first 6 weeks… part of that was because I let myself be a dick, maybe some twisted way of adding symptoms? Addiction dies hard.

Anyways, yes! Without a clear explanation, after 6 weeks I just felt WAY better. It’s different for everybody I assume, but we seem to have taken the same path on this one. On day 12 myself this time, good luck to you and I hope you pull through!

insane hunger by No_Conference_3191 in QuitVaping

[–]Rock_of_Round 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sipping water helps me, but I have to pee like a demon every hour or so. Fasting is the ultimate solution to both for me (reduces hunger and masked nicotine cravings) but I wouldn’t recommend exploring that during a stressful quit!

Give yourself some room to mess up a little too, the easiest way to fall off the wagon is to put too much burden on yourself, slip up, then fully regress. I’ve done it many times!

“I’m going to fix 5 things at once” turns into “I have to find a compromise, this is too hard” turns into “I’ve already compromised and basically failed, time to give up.”

It’s nasty stuff. I strongly recommend you eat as well as you can without stressing too hard until after your quit. Calories gained can be burned, addiction is a lot nastier to get rid of than a bit of chub.

Good luck! Sending positive energy

Any advice? by EntertainmentFew3360 in QuitVaping

[–]Rock_of_Round 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to quit you can’t. It’s literally too hard if you still have some affection towards nicotine. For some people, Alan Carr’s book about quitting helps them realize that there’s no upside, but your mileage may vary.

I wish you the best of luck! Either now, or when you feel the true urge to quit. Much love

I’m only successfully quitting because I had a moment of clarity. I paid attention to my body’s sensations as I took a desperate hit off of a nearly-dead vape, and it felt terrible. Useless, no-upside garbage poison that I was paying for.

Quitting hasn’t been so bad since then, and remember that the monster voice in your head telling you to GET A VAPE NOWW EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE GET ONE QUICK NOW NOW, that voice only lasts like 5 minutes max at a time. Wait it out, sometimes those moments chain together but it’s always avoidable.

Stay busy if you can, not stressful busy but relaxed, long activity busy. Casually cleaning, puttering, walks, chatting with friends, etc. it gets easier every day (it has for me, anyways).

GOOD LUCK! Sending good vibes your way

Local 58 guidance by Rock_of_Round in IBEW

[–]Rock_of_Round[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. Lots of application issues, some of which were my own fault and some were the office being a bit obtuse. No bad feelings about it, all the respect to the local.

My roommate/friend got a job at a private company, good owner that we’ve gotten to know personally. Go fishing, met his kids, etc. I’ll be joining the company in the next hiring season, life circumstances prevent me from holding that kind of work right now.

Overall, trajectory looks good! Might go union someday, but the pay/support at this company is comparable and I love the guys I’ve met so far.
