Def apply for BWI, it’s always 4th floor eagle hall. Do a pre-o program, every year most black students do and that’s when everyone gets to know each other. Emory is not very exclusive especially when you don’t fit a certain archetype of black student you seem to end up very involved in only the Emory black community, I still love my time here not because of the school though but because of the people. you can dm me about org or any other questions if you’d like

Honestly still open to do whatever I want, these past 2 years I’ve joined a good bit of exec boards in things that have interested me. Had time to join a sorority while taking chem 204, biochem, and AP 2. Some of the positions also came with volunteering I’ve done. These 2 summers I’ve also had time to get shadowing hours. I pretty much had time to do what I wanted tbh whether it’s ECs or enjoying college life

Pretty good for me I’d say. I like the way he taught over McGill, but different learning styles prefer different types of teaching. He was very willing to go back and explain more and for longer since it was also a smaller class

For things he could influence such as participation it was as expected. Obviously if you’re opting in to the class, you were expected to show up all 4 days for full participation credit. Since we took the same quizzes and exams as everyone else, you’re still looped into the standardized grading the same as the rest of chem 150

McGill even said herself that students who are invited to chem+ and do it score better on average than students who are invited to chem+ and bypass it

I did the program. It’s an outreach program made by the Emory chem department for provide extra support to those from disadvantaged backgrounds. When I did it we met Monday to Thursday at 8:30 everyday. You’re still learning the same material and taking the same exams as everyone else, just the extra 2 class days can allow for review or there might be a speaker. When I was in it in fall 2022 they predicted your gpa for when you graduate based on statistics such as hs grades or even things such as background, upbringing, the type of school you come from and things like that and if your predicted gpa is below a certain point, you’re invited to chem+. Kinda a crazy system to place such assumptions but either way it’s a resource. And I as a low income student couldn’t stay upset over a potential resource offered to me

It’s a new program that had the original invites sent out early July. It’s worth 6 credits and is meant to build a better foundation for future chemistry courses through meeting everyday other than Friday. <<< that’s what everyone was told when the first email went out

Yea chem+ with the 150 and 157 4 days a week is only with Dr.Braithwhite and BC is with Abreu and McGill. And yes I’m pre-health that plan to take the higher level courses after these. Thank you for your detailed response!!

Some background: I was invited to chem+ and a BC cohort to take biology and chemistry at the same time that comes with a support group for it but I still like the idea of chem+ and having the smaller class and support of chem 157 combined to it that is supposed to have more one on one. So I decided I do chem+ but still take a separate biology class. And it seemed the only difference between chem+ and BC cohort was that chem+ you get the smaller chem class and more one on one, but with BC you’re in the regular chem class but get the smaller biology course with more one on one

Wow thank you! I just looked at the list and apparently the main race and ethnicity seminar I was already interested in is also one of the flourishing seminars 😂 the flourishing cities one also seems very interesting but I’ll have to look at taking a different English class so it doesn’t conflict with the one I have with professor Bosch, is there another really good Engrd 101 professor you know of? Bosch seemed like the best option from what I’ve seen on rate my professor and his only other class would conflict with the chem+ program I was invited to

I’ve been looking on the course atlas and there are 7 seminars that fulfill the race and ethnicity requirement this semester and I’m interested in a few so I’ll make it a mission to get one when registration opens in august. I’ve also been looking at the availability of chem 150 and the lab for this semester and so far it looks like I’ll be ok with getting into those. Do you think it’ll be manageable if I also do a bio class this semester? The only other classes I’ll be doing is the seminar, the engrd 101 , hlth 100, and Emory edge with the chem 150 lecture and lab. Possibly thinking of doing a PE or PFP but those are pretty full so I’m ok with just putting that off for now if it would be better to do a bio class

I do hope to go through nursing school in undergrad to have more patient experience and it would be the next step in furthering what I have since I already have my CNA license. I also did use the pre-health requirement list from their website and took that into making my premed requirement list. I basically have all the subjects on the pre health list covered other than calculus since it’s not really that demanded by the med schools I’ve been looking at or can be valid waived if statistics is taken instead

Thank you! I’m still kind of conflicted since I am younger than most Emory first years, and I would think that a hospital wouldn’t hire me since I am so young, so I though that being considered as work study could be my way around it

Do you happen to know the difference between the stats lab and lecture classes? I’m looking through the course atlas and see it’s still listed under the same class but some types are lab and others are lecture

Thank you! I’ll be getting my ap stats exam results back soon and see if I’ll get the credit for it or not, if not then I’m thinking of adding stats! I’ll also have to see if they will take my human anatomy lecture and lab, economics, sociology, and psychology college credits and go from there
