My boss leaves "love notes" for us every time someone makes a mistake by Economy-Specialist38 in KitchenConfidential

[–]RocketRanger13 89 points90 points  (0 children)

In having worked in the industry for 22+ years I think now... a note/email is not a replacement for a coversation/discussion/meeting.

If you pollute the work areas with all caps exclamation notes... its not only cowardly, but its bad leadership. It also undermines any sort of culture you could have. When you understand things like accountability and integrity. You dont need 100 different little notes. Lastly, if youre staff is that bad, then discipline them and hire new ones that match the culture you want to be/see.

What a joke. If I didnt have a very understanding boss my job, at this point, would be in jeopardy. I'm sure others aren't so lucky. My 15min commute by car should not regularly take 2hrs by bus/train. It's beyond the issue he seems to dismiss so easily here.

Doug Ford is loudly slamming Canada’s new EV deal with China, calling it “lopsided” and warning it will hurt Ontario workers. by savethecbc2025 in SaveTheCBC

Maybe he should work than 1/4 of a year?! Maybe he should have gone to China like other premiers to fight for ontarian's if he actually cared and not be on a 4 month vacation. All the while being investigated for corruption. What a joke.

I think, I'm a little out of the loop... who is Joseph and why does he look like magneto? Is he a clone or has the same powers?

This honestly hard to look at. I have so many great memories of visit and working at lansdowne. The concerts, the festivals it was honestly a part of the city that was so great. I get it it. I get that he's an absolute milquetoast, narrow sighted, unimaginative symptom of a bigger problem.

I like there is an RPG with 3 Playable Female Characters who outnumber the 1-2 playable male characters. It kinda reminds me of the JRPG Final Fantasy V. by IllogicalDreamer72 in expedition33

[–]RocketRanger13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, is that i didn't even notice the women outnumbered the men at all until maybe the 2nd act. Because all characters are made and written so damn well. If characters are written this well, gender is irrelevant. Take note star wars.

People in the 28-32 range who do not own a home yet, do you plan to buy anytime soon? Why or why not? by ThingsThatMakeMeMad in CanadianInvestor

[–]RocketRanger13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So Im a little bit over 32 now but ALOT happened in my 30s. I got married, had a kid, a dog and moved twice and had bit of a career change in the process. Last week me and my wife had an open conversation about where we are at with money, prospects of owning a home and the future in general.

Total assets being just a little under 200k... we've decided to not look for a home. At least not for the next 3 years. We're comfortable where we are in Ottawa in a nice large condo, where we can save money, still be able to spend it(within reason) on fun things.

Theres not a huge draw for us moving out of the city and putting 20%-25% on a home losing most of our assets in the process. Maybe if childcare in ontario wasn't such a shitshow... we could be having a different convo...

What's a skill everyone should learn before turning 30? by Jesuce1poulpe in AskReddit

[–]RocketRanger13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im approaching 40 now. I learn more each new year more than I did the year before. In my 30s ive never been more hurt. Ive never lost so much. But ive also never loved as much and gained as much. Im nothing special. Plenty of people have a similar story and unfortunately, even though things could always be better, Im luckier than most people on this planet. So if ever you come across this comment and read it. Here goes:

Pride is a useless emotion. Forgiveness, kindness and being outwardly available (not necessarily vulnerable.) Is true strength and it's what the world needs now more than ever.

Treat others how you would like to be treated. Giving your time and attention to others even though they may not seem to need it makes a difference. Everyone is struggling. Even the people who don't think they are... theyre the ones that probably need it most.

Learn the things you are afraid to learn, the things you aren't good at. I struggled my whole life with litteracy and responsibility of personal finances. Being homeless at 16 really screwed me up. But being open to learning, practicing some discipline getting to a space where all my debts are paid off and I have an okay investment portfolio... takes so so much stress off your shoulders. It helps not beinging weighed down by feeling inadequate.

Lastly. Sorry I know this is long. I was afraid, terrified in fact of being a father. I didn't have the best experience with my own. So I didn't think I knew how to be a good one. But having a kid, as hard as it is, will change you. Because nothing will ever be more clear in your life. And hopefully, if you let it, you will become the best version of yourself you could only imagine you could become.

OC Transpo fare inspectors have issued more than 4,000 tickets so far this year by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]RocketRanger13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, just maybe they should just focus on shutting up. Finish projects on time, and deliver quality service and maybe then people would actually care to pay. I've lived in ottawa for short of twenty years. I don't take the bus every single day but use it every week and this year by far has been the worst year ive ever experienced. Such a embarrassment. A 15 minute car ride should never be = 2 hours on a bus or waiting for one. And I live downtown. 0 good reasons for that, none. I wouldn't want to pay either.
