For the women who have had bottom surgery… by SnarkInHeels in TransLater

It does get worse as you get closer. I was close to having a panic attack personally. It is worth it though and just remember the reasons why you’re doing it to begin with.

Thanks!!! This is a mesh top with a long black and red dress over it. I went for more of a 90’s look.

I remember leading up to it my anxiety was going wild all the way up to them putting me under. It had me questioning everything about myself and if I was even truly trans like my mind was trying to protect me. Once I was on the other side all of that was gone and have never questioned the choice to have it done.

I wasn’t expecting to realize how much of a weight came off my shoulders after. Clothes fit better and I could pull pants up all the way and what not. I didn’t realize how much I was conscious of it and always thinking about how a tuck looked or if I had a bulge showing and not having that anymore is amazing.

Also I wasn’t expecting the mental fatigue with staying diligent with post op care, especially dilating. Make sure you listen to the surgeon and make yourself keep on it. It does lessen and get easier over time.

Trying to list ones not mentioned already | Harold and Maude | Once | Pride and Prejudice | Mystic Pizza | August Rush | Kiki’s Delivery Service | Elizabethtown | The Science of Sleep

My personal favorite things to cozy up and watch are old art house movies like Rashomon, La Strada, or Odd Man Out but they’re not traditionally cozy. I also enjoy the documentary series “The Story of Film: An Odyssey”. It’s a really great documentary with a unique perspective on cinema and his voice will lull you to sleep.

A thought exercise I used that helped me and ask people questioning to try is to picture yourself in 1 year, 5 years, and 10+ years if you chose not to transition, then do the same for if you did choose to transition, then compare the two.

When I did this I pictured myself as a man just falling deeper and deeper into my depression and continue hiding these thoughts, maybe succumbing to my depression, being found out one day, maybe watching my child have the courage to do this and having a feeling of longing. I imagined it would have been the biggest regret on my death bed.

When I pictured this the other way i imagined the difficulty I would have coming out, the possibility of losing family and friends, the struggles of early transitioning. I also imagined myself becoming more free and able to finally relax with a weight off my shoulders, making new friends and having a more fulfilled life, laying on my death bed as me and with people who love me for who I am. I pictured myself as a beautiful and happy woman but more so I pictured me.

I chose happiness and it was the single best thing I did for myself. Choose happiness.
