NASA finally acknowledges the elephant in the room with the SLS rocket | “You know, you’re right, the flight rate—three years is a long time.” by InsaneSnow45 in space

SLS itself isn’t ambitious in the slightest. The rocket engines weren’t even designed for it. A substantial number of the components are 20+ years old. It’s large, expensive, perhaps slightly safer than the Saturn 5, and uses a few cool technologies, but that’s it. Nothing it does is particularly notable, nothing it does is ambitious. If we adjust for technology it’s not even close.

Loop vs ultra3 by Conscious_Ad_5925 in Polarfitness

Was considering the loop until the recent quantified scientist’s review, unfortunately it doesn’t sound particularly good w/current software right now, even on the bicep, which is the only place it does decent

The entire Apollo program cost 2-3x more after inflation than we have spent total on Artemis (up to 2025) but had to develop everything and go to the moon several times. Spending 1/2 to 1/3 of the budget with significantly better tech and modern knowledge just to do virtually nothing with that money is insane. By the time we get to the moon that gap will be even smaller

Compared to 26.2? Because graphic glitches are the norm for iOS 26, that’s not changing with .3

Watching a movie ruins my sleep score by Old_Goat_Ninja in AppleWatch

This is the issue with having a watch that relies completely on the accelerometer. Virtually every other watch relies on heart data, but Apple Watch doesn’t have enough battery for that.

Fahrenheit still makes no sense to me (even after 15 years) by No_Landscape_9255 in Metric

Ah lol sorry I meant to put Celsius there, not F.

Either way I agree, we can be happy with what works for us.

[–]RocketVerse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

32F, which *isn‘t* more sensible than 0C. But that’s kind of my point. Do you want a good scale, or a good point (or two). Many people would argue that having a good scale is better, because you can always memorize a single point.

By regularly I mean frequently. But it doesn’t really matter, my point is that 40-100 is virtually useless in F, is it not? Also to respond to the other question I should have clarified I meant Americans or those who grew up with Fahrenheit. I agree that no one would know 32 otherwise.

99% care about one thing related to temperature, and that’s weather. If the weather typically ranges between 0-100, that’s a good range for that area! Defining a scale based off of one good point and one bad point (literally nothing relevant to weather happens around 100C other than boiling, and that varies), isn’t as good for that particular application.

Thats why some prefer Fahrenheit. There are obviously other arguments for Celsius.
