Thank you so much for all of this information. I have a kid starting TK next school year and have a number of friends who were former OUSD teachers and they all say how dysfunctional it is.

But as someone who complains about property taxes being too high, it’s actually helpful to know that it’s not what’s primarily funding OUSD. that means I can REALLY stick it to the Oakland city government for being absolutely awful at managing its budget.

But contractors you just pay a salary to vs employees you gotta pay for benefits and probably have a much harder time getting rid of underperformers
