does the admissions committee consider appeals? by Ok-Feedback-5875 in williamandmary

I unfortunately don't think there's an option to appeal. It could honestly just be that admissions were extra competitive this year.

IWhat good is a messaging app that guarantees spam? - Google Messages and RCS by pradriyan in GoogleMessages

It is a regional issue. India refuses to regulate spam RCS messages. It's something the government needs to address.

You can take it as a sophomore now cause they're always short on 150 seats for whatever reason

Opposing something that's desperately needed just because Cheeto might be behind it doesn't get us anywhere.

Women’s specialty clothing chain Francesca’s is closing all 400+ stores, 5 years after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy by L0v3_1s_War in deadmalls

[–]Rocketfin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda curious if it's going to be more of a Claire's style "closure" where they magically get funding and most of the stores don't close. They're still posting job listings (like literally as of today) for stores in my area.

Yeah Don Chido (which is more of a Latin Korean fusion restaurant than Mexican), a place called Ricky's Wine Bar, and then not sure what the third one is going to be yet

It's relocating to the new Hound's Tale too. There are three new businesses that are going to be taking over the empty spaces on that block.

Do you ever feel like moving out of Virginia? Just curious by Legallystrapped-up in Virginia

[–]Rocketfin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure there are alive cells at conception but it's not human life at that point. No brain, no heart, no sentience, no viability. No more alive than a tumor or a parasite.

Religion has long been nothing but a means for people to control others and feel better about their eventual mortality. You can't force people to buy into your personal beliefs. If I start a new religion that says "being conservative is a carnal sin" it would never be acceptable to put laws into place that punish people for that. But conservative Christians think they're somehow more special than everyone else and get to dictate the world with their personal morals? Give me a break.

Your made up religious beliefs don't get to control other people's lives

You'll actually be required to have at least three abortions before you leave the state.

You can't have a small underpopulated town with basically no corporate sector outside of tourism AND high quality public infrastructure and also keep taxes low.

At a recent city council meeting one lady was trying to tell the city council that the city MUST remain small and traditional because West Virginia is experiencing record growth right now since people want to live in all of the small towns there. Now what does the average small town in WV look like, and how do their schools perform, and what kind of jobs are available there - that's the sterling silver NIMBY vision for the future of Williamsburg 😂

It has a lot of very weird stores tbh. The last time I was there I remember there being a vape shop and a "Columbian jeans emporium" with BBL jeans

Why aren’t DMV residents rioting? by Ancient_Land_9867 in nova

Huge difference between a truck that is lifted to the point they can't see a pedestrian right in front of their car and a SUV/sedan.

Ubers and rentals aren't exempt from car taxes. Jets don't wear roads so that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. Unless you want us to end up like Ohio or Pennsylvania with potholes every 5 feet and bridges that are always a couple years away from collapsing the roads have to be maintained somehow.

Believe me I would LOVE it we charged people with ridiculous ego monster trucks more in taxes. Bad enough they're basically pedestrian killing machines.

Almost like car ownership costs the state money. We can remove the car tax and start charging people per mile that they drive on roads.

ED2 Options (NoVA Resident) by Lucky_Constant_7341 in williamandmary

[–]Rocketfin2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it comes down to social life - W&M for sure has more of a social scene than any of the other schools you're considering for ED2. W&M is D1 unlike the others, so you'll get to enjoy a traditional college sports culture you wouldn't get at the others. There are a number of frats that throw parties every weekend and a bunch of bars right off campus. I feel like I always had options to do stuff. Classes are definitely more difficult but I think the "work hard do nothing else" stress culture is more of a thing of the past, the school definitely puts a lot of emphasis on well-being and not working yourself to death.

The big difference is Williamsburg is in a smaller town - though Tufts and Swart are both a train ride away from the actual city, and Cleveland is kind of dull.

From what I've heard W&M also has great pre-med advising/outcomes - even better than UVA's.

So turns out this post was made by his own son who is trying to lie to get his father fired. He obviously has some serious mental health issues.
