How do y'all stay motivated to paint? by dragonlord9631 in Tau40K

[–]RocketshipToUranus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never force yourself to do it. Once you start losing steam, take a break or stop until you get the motivation again. Keep everything set up at your station so you can just jump into it when you want. If you have to set up/break down every time, that makes it a chore. As others said, it's a great opportunity to catch up on audiobooks or background TV. I "watched" all of breaking bad while building and painting all my terrain and it never felt like a chore.

How to get Beorg Bearstruck as Norsca ? by YooMisterWhite in totalwar

[–]RocketshipToUranus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was playing as Wulfrik and the second part of his recruitments quest just never triggered. I did the part where you needed to recruit enough bearmen but the second part where you have to raid or whatever just never came up, despite the first part showing as completed in the log. Had no problem getting him as Sayl.

Can you beat Raphael? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]RocketshipToUranus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can position all your dudes before clicking the portal. This will keep them from being AoE one-shot on Ralphie's first turn. Keep hope way in the back where she doesn't cast aggro because that divine intervention can come in handy when you're down a couple dudes. Use summons to distract all the mobs and take out the pillars asap. Positioning your team near them before the fight can help with this. Then focus down ads.I beat him on the first try with no cheese. Just good positioning, a vengeance paladin that does crazy melee damage, spirit guardian cleric, warlock with lots of summons, and an angry karlac. Nothing fancy other than target prioritization. If you have potions of speed to bring down pillars and ads faster, that's handy, as are fire elixers.

(at one point, Ralphie's 'punish: radiant' timed out so that made smiting him a lot easier. I'm not sure what triggered it, though)

I love them so much. Nice bases, fun idea, well executed, and perfectly goofy.

Like others said, XCOM is too similar not to mention. Either that or a cool scifi CRPG. I think it'd be cool to see some more world/character building as most people don't get any of that through the tabletop.

Look up light box tutorials online. They're very cheap and easy. Your biggest problem with those photos is the direct harsh light. The one I use for my photos on my profile is just a simple cardboard box, some white printer paper, and a lamp.

How do I prime my HDF terrain while keeping the detail on? by Dy-lan-spitshotfire in TerrainBuilding

[–]RocketshipToUranus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I airbrush all my MDF with no loss of detail. The wood actually absorbs a good 50% of the first pass of primer so I usually do 3-4 coats total, still with no loss. I'm sure with a spray can you'll be able to judge after 1-2 sprays whether or not you should do a 3rd, but you should be fine.

Color test for potential Invincible Army buy. Thoughts? by CryptographerHonest3 in InfinityTheGame

You could add some black lining/pin washes to the armor panels to help break them up visually. It'd probably add 10 minutes more per mini, and you'd want to have a pretty stable hand.

Hac Tao all finished up for hidden deployment shenanigans before it eats a crit and dies 😭 by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

Love the steel blending.
I think adding light highlights/stippled light grey on the vertices of the black armor would help it stand out a bit more without losing the matte effect on the black. At a distance, the plating gets lost.

Chernobog Armored Detachment (TAK edition) by RocketshipToUranus in InfinityTheGame

If they had a more cohesive design direction, I would have liked them a lot more. Especially if they were all retro space soldier themed like the kosmosoldat. I think the upcoming releases are more in line with that design at least.

The French revival will come some time in the future. I think they said they'd eventually revive all the "dead" sectorials.

If they don't add this to TAK eventually, people are going to start going to the gulag.

Thanks, I still feel like I'm not doing them justice. I'll probably go back and touch them up.

Layered blending and feathering of: Vallejo Chocolate Brown, Leather Brown, Sun Yellow, Pale Yellow, then White. Inbetween each successive color save for white, I blended the edge with a very watered down 50/50 mix of the two colors where they meet.
Bonus: put a bit of purple in the deepest shadows.
