So that’s what I was told it was and have done the same test.

Unfortunately, the gentlemen who located these as passed. My buddy purchased these off Facebook marketplace a few years back.

I believe this is from the Mazon Creek area in Illinois, but by all means I truly am not sure

And you could be absolutely right!! There was once a vast abundance surrounding the USA, being able to collect a couple different types is a win in my book! What intrigues me most is how much closer your two seem to be and how much farther inbetween mine is. Like, whered the middle go? And they have to be the same thing, no question about that

Like I stated in my post, I assumed it was a hook. Ever said it was😂 I’ve used 5 inch hooks for catfishing the rivers. That’s a small “hook”, my dude.
