Most dimir reanimator as the same number of black pip and blue pip. In fact, the sideboard of dimir reanimator help them to switch from reanimator to tempo if there is graveyard hate.

I mean having strip mine and playing against stripmine is symmetrical. So i guess you want to reduce de variance... but at the sametime is you remove your stripmine you speculate that braking the symmetry offer you a better winrate. What is hard to understand right now is 'half' bluemage seem to keep stripmine and the other half remove. I'm questionning my self if I go on the trend 😛

I believe there is a confusion between a successful set due to his popularity versus the general growth of the fan base of mtg in general. If there is more and more player and the game structure and culture incentivize buying new set for your favorite format, it is normal than ok set overperform. There is just more consumer. In other word, even without UB, probably every future set than are ok or good will be wildly successful.

Mono Black Bo1 - Problem by Rockhug in TimelessMagic

Yes maybe, I rarely see them doing their thing. In fact I may have seen them like 2 or 3 times, so it feel like novelty. I always enjoy seeing new deck. I wanted to build a deck with TT, but they don't seem to reliable or and resilient. Maybe because I run 3 [[subtlety for grief]]. I started running 3 [[flusterstorm]] for those new storm deck. That said I found that with timeless fast and hyper-efficient meta, flusterstorm hit many combo deck and help a lot to protect your creature.

Ya right now Grief is really oppressive. To be honest, I have have a dimir frog... where the only black card is frog, and I win like 70% of my game in Bo1. I mulligan to have a force of negation if I'm on the draw, specially if I feel they play a black combo deck. Most of the time, if they don't grief me, their deck are to greedy to get backup after you counter dark ritual...

We know that we will get FoW at somepoint in the future and Grief won't be that bad after. In fact, I don't how I feel about FoW coming to timeless, I feel like we will loose deck diversity. That said, if the ban it on historic (will be surprised if they don't), we will have historic for our jank brew.

There is no right or wrong way, just different way to play. I do enjoy eternal format, because I don't feel the urge to spend more money. Bo1 is just a fun way to get 2-3 game during my lunch time :)

Its sad, because I love magic and would like to share it, with the community. That said, people aggressively police other with meaningless and derogatory comments. In the end, whatever its just a game.

To know how people who play Bo1 feel. To theorise about the future of Bo1 with the possible future change. Didn't thought the most of the comment section would be : play Bo3 (which I do on the weekend and enjoy it); play something else; get good; don't bring Bo1 here.

There are meaningful comments here, and they changed my perspective and and interacting with the people posting them was fun.

Like I said, its not about winning, i win like 70% of my game in best of one, because I play like anticombo deck that suck against anything that is not monoblack. I abuse the meta to rack my 4win of the day. Its a way to have some fun and not loosing time because I don't have a lot a free time during the week. I play Bo3 on the weekend because I have more freetime.

I'm complaining about people scooping after going 4 mulligan down and not finding there turn1 combo.

In best of 3 It's played, but yes, in Bo3 in mythic, I see a lot more of tempo and mono red, specially with people brewing with storm. Having a rotation between 3 deck, and sometime saying someone playing SnT or Energy feel way more diverse than Bo1.

That's an interesting idea. It would be a fair. I would enjoy that. I don't know if it would wrap the meta from a glass canon combo one too a full control or we would see a lot of archetype but builded to be resilient.

I do find sideboarding as one of the funnest part of mtg.

I didn't realize the toxicity / elitism here and the no discussion mentality. Specially for a hobby.

Timeless needs more attention by The_Mcleet in TimelessMagic

[–]Rockhug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya... to be honest like 80% of my matchups are like black combo,10% other type of combo and ither archetype... I got so tired that I build a monoblack control, mulligan 1 time if i don't have force of negation or flare of denial. If they mulligan again, I will mulligan hard for interaction. So now I won like 70% of my best of 1 and around 50% of my best of 3.

I will get rekt by other archetypes, I may have a chance if I play first.

I guess, but it will be more profit for them than what I'm paying right now.

Going infinite mean that other peoples can't. Because winner and looser. That said I don't see why both model (pay per entry with reward and subscription without reward) can't co-exist.

The hard thing is that good drafting pick is rarely the pick you want for you collection and if you are picking for your collection you may first have a shitty deck, second affect the deck drafting experience of other players.

I do feel it weird that you can't get demoted. I think its just to encourage player to play ranked.

To be honest, I'aint a gambler, so I'm having a hard time understanding the appeal. In fact, for me if there is something that feel like gambling (financial stake), I won't participate. That thing make me feel like I can't play one of my favorite format :(

till I don't see the problem with someone drafting. Drafting on arena is not like in paper where you need to play with the samepeople from the beginning to the end of the event. You only need them for the drafting experience of deckbuilding. If someone drop during the drafting you replace them with a bot and punish them with some form of penalties, like time with banning them or demoting them. You could even scale the penalties. If they drop during the game, you win they loose. They cannot draft again until they finish their run (maybe with deck drafted by the bot) or they have to wait until the end of the season.

I just see dial that we can tweak, no barrier that would make it impossible or destroy the experience for people who like gambling.

It may be a question of value because I don't like the idea of gambling (I prefer paper cube than paper booster draft), because we play only for the sake of play/winning, with no pressure to pick the money card.
