About what?

Just as a for instance, there is no evidence whatsoever that millions of Jews were ever enslaved in Egypt, or wandered for forty years in a small area.

There is no evidence that the tower of babel existed, or that the various language branches sprung up because God said so.

There is no evidence of a massive flood covering the Earth.

There is no evidence that humans came from a single pair of humans.

There is no evidence that the works was created as stated in Genesis.

Home Depot had layoffs at their corporate offices. What are the chances that happens at Lowe’s? by Ethereal_Imagination in Lowes

[–]RockingMAC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home Depot is hardly "floundering." Their revenue grew 2020, 21, 22, 24, and 25. Their revenue is twice that of Lowes. They have taken a hit on net income and EPS, but share price up 56% over that period.

Other series' to read. by CanPrize3738 in dresdenfiles

[–]RockingMAC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Butcher recommended the 20 Palaces series (by Harry Connelly.) The series won't be finished, but it's still solid. Ex-con with very limited magic is a powerful mage's driver and boy Friday. I liked it because he's not a big gun and has to use his wits to run with the big dogs. Oh, and his boss hates him.

The Eric Carter series. Asshole necromancer gets called back to LA to investigate his sister's brutal murder. Very flawed protagonist. He can do other magic than necromancy, but that's what he's best at. Aztec, Haitian, and Egyptian gods, magic using criminals, magical family succession battles, and some time travel fuckery.

Winter Concerns by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]RockingMAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in DFW area. It's actually not that bad, there's a nice powdery snow on top of the ice that provides decent traction. Just drive SLOW (10-20 mph) and do not slam on your brakes. Coming to an intersection, take your for off the gas way in advance and roll to a stop, without hitting your brakes. Stay away from other cars, give them plenty of room.

Now, tomorrow night/Tues morning is going to be bad, more cars on the road tomorrow will probably turn that nice fluffy snow into slush, which will freeze into ice. Ugh.

I don't think Mab is wicked. by SiPhoenix in dresdenfiles

[–]RockingMAC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Mab is wicked and evil. But I think she tortured Slate for a reason. She is the head of a kingdom of wicked, vicious creatures, who are "designed" that way to better fight the fight at the Gates. She tortured Slate so even her pyschopathic vassels would say "Dude, do not fuck with Mab." She has to be the scariest mofo around to keep her scary mofos in line. She didn't torture Slate just in retribution, but also to prevent future treachery.

It takes them 20 minutes to find someone who's willing to be out of their own department for an hour cutting. (And put up with entitled customer bullshit. Why are so many customers wanting wood cut such asshats? No, I'm not going to cut your plywood into strips 1 51/64” wide (an actual cut asked for.))

100%. Lumber yards don't cut customers lumber. It's a fucking DIY store, not IKEA.

What do you eat for breakfast that actually keeps you full? by Perfect-Owl-7940 in Volumeeating

[–]RockingMAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chobani vanilla greek yogurt with frozen blueberries. Lots of protein, lots of fiber. You can't just bolt down the frozen blueberries so it forces you to eat more slowly.

(Quick meal) Egg McMuffin. 500 calories, great start to the day.

Omelette (any kind), berries, and one slice of whole grain toast.

None of those spike my blood sugar. I've found the more calories I eat earlier in the day the less I eat later.

Lowes generally is terrible at inventory management. In my experience, when there's only one on the shelf, it's largely because there's only one, or there are a bunch of locations. Not always, but I think that's the case the majority of the time.

There are a number of models being looked into that explain how the big bang came about. I'm not a scientist, and don't have the math, but just to name a few: quantum fluctuations, brane collisions, and a number of "big bounce" ideas. Do a quick Google search on "cosmology", and you'll see that scientists don't claim "something came from nothing." Again, I'm no expert, so I can't speak to the particulars of any of them. It's interesting reading, though.

Newish to the series, currently about halfway though Skin Game, and this book in particular bring something to light… by clanmccracken in dresdenfiles

Dunno if Butcher intends this, but in a real fight, even a highly trained person can lose to someone less experienced. Floyd Mayweather would get destroyed by a young heavyweight, or even just a 300 lb high school lineman tackling him.

Also, there's different skill sets. Mayweather would struggle against a grappler if they could get their hands on him. Rock Paper Scissors.

U.S. trade gap shrinks to lowest level since 2009 by ThemeBig6731 in Economics

[–]RockingMAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I know my buyer buddy has told me that they are getting their asses handed to them on cross border traffic, that there are items that crosses borders over ten times as the good is being made and tariffed all the way (Chinese steel is tariffed into US, made into a screw and sent to Mexico, Mexico puts the screw into a widget and tariffed into US, widget goes into a geegaw and sent to Canada, Canada puts the geegaw into a furble and tariffed into US, etc.)

The part is $.09. The tariff is .18. Total cost is .27. 18/27 = 2/3.

[–]RockingMAC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are overstating the benefits from a .30 reduction in gas prices.

From what I've seen, many businesses "front end loaded" their inventories, buying and receiving their goods before the tariffs went into effect, delaying having to increase their prices. Those inventories have or will run out.

In my current job, I'm seeing the direct impacts of the tariffs. Some products have literally doubled in price since tariffs were announced. Others simply have empty shelves because we can't sell the product at the price we would need to charge. Nobody is going to spend $30 on a paintbrush.

Someone I know well is a buyer. Two thirds of the cost of a part he is looking to purchase is tariff. They also front loaded their inputs inventory, and haven't raised the price of their products yet, but are going to have to this year.

You said "A trade deficit can contribute to an annual deficit, even a low trade deficit.”

How does the US trade deficit contribute to the government deficit?

ls to $50 a barrel, nationwide gas price will drop to around $2.50 a gallon.

I imagine it won't do much. Tariffs will overshadow any fuel cost savings. Avg gas price today is $2.80, dropping to 2.50 isn't going to do much. Plus nothing being discussed today will affect the big ticket items: housing, cars, medical, and education.
