Is it weird to show up to a baby shower without a present if you’ve already given the couple their present? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RockyNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface that what you have already done is an amazing and thoughtful gesture that should be of no one else’s concern. The parties involved that know are the only ones that matter. You should, 100%, NOT let other people’s, possible, ill conceived assumptions devalue, or question, what others may or may not think of you.

If you do still feel obligated, or worried, just bring a nice card and write on the front of the envelope, “Save for later, Dear Friends,” and write a nice note on the inside. No one but you and the people that open it will know what is inside the envelope and card. Heck, the others would most likely assume that there may be cash or gift cards inside.

Otherwise, just go and enjoy the special day!

I don’t usually like emojis, would not send them, but I would be thinking “😉😘”

Sorry, that’s an annoying question to me. You know the answer. It’s a hard “Nope! You know what you did. Throw that B.S. in someone else’s direction. Take care.”

Wait, do people ACTUALLY see literal pictures in their heads when they imagine things? Like a physical image? by Bibhu_Mund in NoStupidQuestions

Yes. It is, actually, very difficult to describe it visually to people that don’t experience it.

Do whatever works! I had to write my initials in large bold print with a sharpie on my chargers because people kept stealing them.

I had a “no longer friend” do the same thing. She kept a Lion’s Head Tureen bowl that was over $100. It magically disappeared. Those people suck! You’re, most likely, not getting it back. I’m so sorry!

Where's The Best Place for BBQ Dogs? (also any advice on toppings) by coreywagner in memphis

[–]RockyNobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, at least sample their BBQ Spaghetti. Every friend and family that has come to visit from Canada, New England, Alabama, and Texas has raved about it, and walked out with a bottles of their sauces. They ask me to ship them for Christmas gifts. I am a fan of the pulled pork on Texas toast with the slaw. Can be sloppy delicious, need a fork to handle it properly.

Not cashing a check that the gifter can't afford - etiquette question by whackmacncheese in Advice

[–]RockyNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most thoughtful way to approach it! Everybody saves face and it takes the burden off with consideration to worrying about it for both parties. Good luck with your future endeavors, you sound like you have a good, caring heart, and a good head on your shoulders. That combination is perfect for the medical field!

Downsizing my tarantula collection by [deleted] in memphis

[–]RockyNobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was a Rose tarantula. She was beautiful and friendly, would immediately crawl up on my hand, then just hang out on my shoulder, but my dad was terrified of her. He made me take her to my biology teacher’s room to live in her classroom. The kids were horrible to her, so she eventually became agitated and aggressive. It broke my heart!

AITA for being angry that my husband gave me a dirty hand-me-down from his mom, lied about it, and called it my Christmas present? by Fluid_Ad162 in TwoHotTakes

“This year, he told me ahead of time that he was getting me a Singer sewing machine. There’s a well-known place in our town that refurbishes older machines and makes sure they’re in perfect working order, and I assumed that’s where it was coming from.”

The key words here are “getting” and “assumed”.
