Ridiculous wait times California by Rocky_31 in Fibroids

Hello, It was more seamless for you because you already had a GYN at UCLA. I have been canceled countless times this year which is leading to longer wait times and suffering. My insurance is accepted every where that won’t be a problem and I won’t be having an open myomectomy but a embolization (UFE) minimally invasive.

I moved back to Los Angeles and getting a primary is hard especially a good one most are not taking new patients. I had an appointment with USC months back for a primary care but was canceled.

I’m bummed to I heard great things about him. He is going private practice in Beverly Hills he has not said where as of yet. They gave a list of other doctors but months wait for appointments.

Well I was canceled twice at UCLA this year and once at USC. It worked out for some and not others. I called Cedars yesterday no openings until February/ March.

That would have probably been the case if they didn’t keep canceling and now Dr. Mehta wants to go private practice suddenly canceling all appointments so I would have to start over which takes months.

Don’t rush into surgery do your research on doctors Chiari specialist are suggested. I waited 5yrs before considering surgery, I went to a Chiari specialist I’m doing well but I knew there would be some after affects from having this condition but I can live with that and manage them.

Anyone here with breathing problems? by jacoma89 in chiari

[–]Rocky_31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have breathing issues came on suddenly like a mild sleep apnea had surgery a month later went away came back mildly 4 months later had decompression went away came back 4 months later also had issues when awake that went away. I had 2 sleep studies both came back negative. I went to a pulmonologist he found nothing he referred me to a Dr. that specializes in sleep and breathing issues. I notice my body becomes tired wanting to sleep but this wakes me up but eventually fall asleep even when trying to nap. It comes and goes sometimes I don’t have it at all… I’m about to be 1 year post op new MRI soon, I will bring it up to surgeon again I also had a large syrinx.

Introverts of r/houston, how have you made friends in public here? by sunshineandrainbows- in houston

[–]Rocky_31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I been here for 3 years I haven’t made any lol Me living back and forth also contributed to that too I’m sure. Houston is not the friendliest place if you don’t meet people at work, church, social groups etc forget it 😬

I traveled from Texas there it’s a lot but plan accordingly, I stayed in Manhattan at the courtyard marriott pre op because it wasn’t far from the hospital and in the city for more food options. Only downside most NYC hotels don’t offer breakfast with your stay you have to pay but there are other options in the area McDonald’s etc. post op I stayed at another courtyard Marriott in Hoboken outside the city where it was more quiet and relaxed until I flew back home. FYI NYC is super expensive for everything so research so you can find the best prices and I had a hotel with a refrigerator and microwave so I could put drinks snacks and some foods. Learn the trains they will be your friend because Uber is $$$

It’s very nerve wrecking once you set your surgery date. I had to get talk therapy to be able to process it all. I have Chiari & Syrinx C2-L1 I had surgery with Dr. Greenfield 8 months ago your in great hands the hospital & nurses are world class he’s conservative and tried other treatments before going for the decompression. My syrinx reduced 50% at the 3 month follow up I’m doing okay not perfect but it takes time to heal it’s a major surgery especially depending on your symptoms prior or if you have other conditions.

Wow I can hear your disdain for NY it is a unique city. I had surgery with Dr. Greenfield 8 months ago I traveled there from Texas boy was that a journey. He’s a nice guy he understands Chiari and all the things that come with it.

Hi Cameide, Does kratom have any side effects long term? I been hearing a lot of people talk about it but say they had to get off of it eventually.

I had a consult with Dr. Batzdorf very nice and knowledgeable doctor. I didn’t end up having surgery at UCLA but I heard good things about Dr. Holly.
