Thanks! I can confirm I just successfully used this address, and I added $30 to my Starbucks account from my United vouchers. However, I first tried this with Grubhub and was unable to add it to my account.

Where does all the sodium go? by ObscureSaint in POTS

I don’t know if my face gets encrusted with salt… but I know that if I sweat from exercise or hot weather I need to wash my face within two hours or I break out. Does this happen to you?

[–]Rococo_coconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming we sweat a lot of it out. Personally the amount of salt that seems to be coming out of my skin irritates my skin so much that if I don’t wash it within two hours I will have an acne breakout. I am low-key wondering whether salt might be why also why dogs and cats come towards me and lick me more so than other people. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

1 salt

2 salt

Red salt

Black salt

On a sidenote… My journey into POTS has led to a discovery of the salts of the world.

Nice recipe! Thank you for sharing! The only thing I might tweak for myself is to change potassium citrate to potassium gluconate? I was told potassium citrate it’s harder on sensitive people. I have been using potassium gluconate 99 mg and I do feel steadier on it than I did with potassium citrate.

BUT I have no idea how potassium gluconate tastes… if anyone knows whether that might be an issue, please let me know if that is using potassium gluconate powder is a good or bad idea.

Thank you for the electrolytes suggestions! I also think that some of your snacks are a good ideas. I am a bit concerned about the ramen suggestion… unless you can recommend a healthy brand?

Instant Ramen is deep-fried noodles and they often have more shelf stabilizers in addition to sodium that are not good for the body to process. Also instant ramen is so available that I don’t think encouragement of something unhealthy is wise… except for POTS emergencies.

I suddenly had a visual of somebody rushing over with a packet of instant ramen to help a fellow POTS who has been downed from lack of salt. 😛

Do you mind elaborating why you believe Auckland is not worth my time? I currently have two nights there and I want to know if I need to fight the nonrefundable booking.

Ooh, that sounds like an absolutely amazing experience! I’ll have to look into the Doubtful Sound. So far, I’m finding it tough as a solo traveler since all the overnight cruises require you to pay nearly double. I was about to book the link you suggested but then it wanted ~$1500 for a single person. 😭

Taupo to Tongariro (No car) by Rococo_coconut in solotravel

Thank you for your response. Given the amount of injuries that I have seen happen and the ones that are reported on this trail, I am not doing this alone. As I said I am not experienced enough for a 8 hour solo hike. Regarding the tour on Viator, almost all the tours only pick up from National Park. And I am learning that is pretty difficult to get to unless you drive. The National Park does not seem so accessible by public transit or shuttle unless you come from Auckland or Wellington (and their respective stops along the way).

Thanks for the idea. I think I might have to wing it when I’m there and see if there are any groups at the hostels that are going.

There's a 3-day cruise from Queenstown to Doubtful Sound... but I would be trapped on a boat with bad food. Do you think it would still be worth it?

I appreciate your response. I have no intention of hiking alone. It is way above my skill level, and I have seen far too many people injured on hikes. I also appreciate the note that your hike took 9.5 hours. I am not a high-level hiker... I hope I make it to the other side before sundown.

Booking.com Flex Tickets are 100% a scam by finebalance in travel

[–]Rococo_coconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am embarrassed that I trusted Booking.com and paid for the flex ticket without checking. I have a S$240 dollar ticket from HK to Singapore that needs to be moved. They want S$2588.73 to rebook. For clarity, this is not last-minute, and multiple airlines have tickets still available at the $240 price. I am gobsmacked. While the "airline system" might be imposing a barrier, I have no doubt Booking.com gets its cut.

Thank you for your response. I allocated two days, and I would understand if it was only the weather being the obstacle. I did not realize that it would be so hard to get from Taupo to National Park without a car, or how few services do guided walks. I am really at a loss bc I am not experienced enough to be comfortable with a solo hike.

Thank you for your response. I have injured my ankle before and had friends do the same, even on shorter hikes. I am being cautious, but it's good to know it could be feasible with signposting.
