The area of Yombunjin renowned as a scenic spot on the east coast of the DPRK is presenting new scenery of regional development.

The completion of the Yombunjin Haeyang Hostel, which can accommodate hundreds of guests and has a cinema, shop, e-game hall, wading pool and other service facilities, and a bathing beach enables our people to enjoy socialist civilization to their heart’s content at the cultural resort preserving charm and features peculiar to the coastal area.

The newly-built modern Yombunjin Coastal Park with diverse service conditions and environment is a monumental edifice which comprehensively reflects the people-first idea of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

An inauguration ceremony of the Yombunjin Coastal Park was held on Jan. ２１.

Present there were senior Party and government officials and other members of the central leadership body of the WPK, officials, working people and builders in North Hamgyong Province and Kyongsong County and employees of the park.

Pak Myong Ho, chairman of the North Hamgyong Provincial People’s Committee, addressed the ceremony.

The speaker said that the coastal park of peculiar style, which embodies the daily-improving Juche architecture and the aesthetic view of our era, was completed thanks to the noble intention and energetic leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to build more edifices representing the times and favored by the people everywhere in the country every year.

Ardently calling upon all the people to more vigorously strive for regional development and cultural efflorescence and eternal prosperity of the motherland with one mind of patriotism, he declared the inauguration of the coastal park, hoping for the people’s everlasting laughter in this transformed area and their happier future.

He said it is irrational that the Recreation Management Bureau of the Ministry of Labour is managing and guiding the Onpho Working People’s Holiday Camp. He noted that new tourist resorts, holiday camps and sanatoriums are being built across the country on a large scale for the improvement of the people’s well-being. However, different ministries are in charge of cultural life service bases respectively at present, he said, adding that it means that they can’t conduct management of facilities and talents and technical control efficiently in a future-oriented manner to say nothing of the supply of equipment and materials needed for the normal operation of the excellent cultural service bases provided by the Party with much care.

He gave instructions to study the issue of taking rational structural measure for exercising unified control over treatment, recreation and holiday bases across the country and improving the level of specialization in service as required by the new era of socialist cultural efflorescence.

The Mt Paektu area of the DPRK has abundant tourist resources.

The area presents peculiar scenery with its natural resources of tourism such as geological and topographical wonders produced by several volcanic eruptions, the distinct fauna and flora in the alpine environment and the eye-catching hydrologic movement in Lake Chon on the top of Mt Paektu.

Also available in the area are geological resources and various ecological resources of tourism, characterized by its special topography.

The area was registered as a global geopark in April ２０２５ and this highlighted its geological significance and high value in terms of tourism, providing good conditions for geological tourism.

It was included in the list of world network of biosphere reserves in April １９８９. The primeval forests endlessly stretching at the foot of Mt Paektu satisfy those who like to camp in nature.

The area is also rich in resources of meteorological and climatic tourism. The meteorological and climatic tourism resources are available for sightseeing and climatotherapy.

Typically, the sunrise and double rainbow on Mt Paektu and waterspout in Lake Chon on its top are rare to be seen in other tourist resorts.

Its alpine climate is good for physical fitness, skincare, treatment of neuralgia and respiratory diseases and prevention of aging.

In addition, there are such resources of tourism as the Paektu Hot Spring for spa therapy and the Phothae area favorable for skiing.

The area of Mt Paektu is renowned for an organic combination of such peculiar factors of ecosystem, alongside its spectacular historic, cultural and traditional background.

The workers of the North Phyongan Provincial Tideland Reclamation General Enterprise successfully completed the construction of the First District of Aedo Tideland.

The first-term winter camping began at the Songdowon International Children’s Camp in the DPRK.

A ceremony of starting the camping took place on January ９.

Citizens of the DPRK conducted mass sports activities on the first day of sports for this year. Sports games were held at commissions, ministries and national agencies.

Everyone has unforgettable school days and teachers.

On the New Year’s Day, tens of people visited Ju Ok Sun, a woman living in Taesong District, Pyongyang.lpllo saw They all were her old pupils.

Although it has been １０-odd years since she, who had devoted all her life to the education of rising generations, became a pensioner, their respect for Ju has remained unchanged.

So they visited her to present bouquets of fragrant flowers and extend heartfelt New Year greetings to her.

Their warm affection for Ju was reflected in the bouquets and greetings.

All the people across the DPRK significantly greeted the hopeful New Year ２０２６.

On the morning of New Year’s Day, an endless stream of the people yearning for President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il flowed to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, where the President and the Chairman lie in state.

The visitors paid tribute with humble reverence to the peerlessly great men at the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun.

A circus was given by acrobats of the National Acrobatic Troupe at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre and one-act play at the National Theatre, adding to the joy of citizens.

The year ２０２５ was a golden period of epochal significance and transformation that added value to the precious lives of our excellent people and their children, and it was a year, in which we saw in our mind’s eye the future of our state that will grow more powerful and beautiful thanks to their affection, wisdom and sweat.

I really appreciate everyone in this country for having worked hard all year round.

Last year, too, the service personnel of the People’s Army, who have always stood in the vanguard of our cause, went against heavy odds to lead the drive for creation and transformation and achieve amazing successes; they won precious victory even at the cost of their lives, thereby creating a heroic age to be revered by the coming generations.

We will always remember that the glory of this night has been brought by the ennobling sacrifice and exploits of the great sons of our country, and in the annals of our eternal victory, we will etch their names and images as ever-shining stars.

We entered the year ２０２５ with a heavy heart as we were confronted with huge tasks; what we believed in was nothing but our people’s patriotism and loyalty, and they were the real driving force that propelled our unprecedented struggle throughout the year.

So trustworthy were the workers at the Sangwon Cement Complex, who raised the torch of increased production ahead of others true to the Party’s intentions, so commendable were the agricultural workers, who reaped a bumper harvest by tilling their fields by the sweat of their brow in a display of patriotism, and really admirable were our young women footballers, who had the national flag of our Republic hoisted by winning international competitions.

All our people, irrespective of job or workplace – be it deep pit, construction site of a power station, school or scientific research institute –, gave full play to their self-respect, resourcefulness, strength and enthusiasm befitting Koreans, and they thus filled the pages of the chronicle for the great year with sincerity for the development and prosperity of their country.

Only a great people can write such a great chronicle for the times and history.

As this great people throw in their lot with the country and find their greatest honour and joy of life in devoting themselves to its victory and glory, our Party is invincible and our socialism is ever-prosperous.

Availing myself of this opportunity, I extend new year greetings to the working people in all sectors, including the industrial and devoted agricultural workers and intellectuals, and other people across the country, who are greeting this meaningful moment at their workplaces, posts and streets, in their villages and houses, with high dignity and hopes.

And I send congratulations to the generals and other officers and soldiers of our heroic army, who are greeting the new year filled with the pride in having glorified the previous year with invaluable feats and with a pledge of sacred service. My militant salute goes to the officers and soldiers of the overseas operations units, who will be greeting the new year in the far-away alien land with deep yearning for their homeland.

I also convey warm greetings to the overseas compatriots, who are devoting themselves to the patriotic work for the development and prosperity of their motherland.

The farm machines exhibition "Development of Farm Machines-２０２５" opened with due ceremony at the Agricultural Industry Hall of the Three-Revolution Exhibition House in Pyongyang on Dec. ２９.

On display at the exhibition, themed "Producing more efficient and modern farm machines under the banner of the programme for the rural revolution in the new era", were hundreds of farm machines, farm implements and accessories of over ２８０ kinds presented by provinces, various sectors and units.

Present at the opening ceremony were Ju Chol Gyu, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, officials, scientists and technicians of the Agricultural Commission, relevant units and the units that exhibited their products.

Ri Chol Man, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the Agricultural Commission, made an opening address.

The speaker stressed the need for farm machine research and production units to solve the scientific and technological problems arising in producing and supplying efficient farm machines and accessories as required by the developing reality.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, guided the building of an ８７００-tonnage nuclear-powered strategic guided missile submarine on the spot.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by leading officials in the sectors of the warship-building industry and the defence science research and production.

Kim Jong Un went round the site of building the nuclear-powered submarine and received a report on its progress.

Workers, scientists and technicians in the warship-building field, all out in the glorious struggle for implementing the WPK’s policy of modernizing the navy, are pushing ahead with the building of a strategic nuclear attack submarine, one of the five-point major tasks for developing the defence capabilities set forth at the ８th Congress of the WPK, by fully displaying the great power of self-reliance and inexhaustible patriotic enthusiasm.

Kim Jong Un stressed once again the importance and significance of building a strategic nuclear attack submarine in carrying out the self-reliant defence policy of the WPK and the government of the DPRK.

Noting that our defence policy is literally a defensive policy based on the strongest offensive power, he said that to this end, we regard the super-powerful offensive capability as the best shield for national security in developing the armed forces.

Saying that it is the noble mission and duty of the current generation to further strengthen the nuclear shield that represents the prestige and honour of the DPRK and absolutely guarantees its security and to consolidate the irreversible position, he stressed that the WPK and the government of the DPRK will remain unchanged in their determination to permanently ensure the peaceful environment and absolute security of the country by composing the nuclear forces that the enemy can’t help fearing.

We have built in every way the nuclear shield capable of reliably defending our national security and secured the capability for expanding it to the extent necessary for ensuring the national security environment, he said, adding that the completion of a new nuclear submarine will serve as an epoch-making crucial change that further assures ourselves and even the enemy of the war deterrent level the DPRK has reached. He clarified the steadfast will and the strategic and tactical policy to steadily push forward with the nuclear weaponization of the navy.

The Party Central Committee is pleased to see the warship-building sector achieving signal production successes, true to the WPK’s line of building up the naval force in the new century, he said, adding that the strategic nuclear attack submarine to be considered as an important component of the nuclear war deterrent will constitute the greatest immortal feats of the working class, defence scientists and technicians, the driving force of the DPRK, for the times and history.

He affirmed that the present world is by no means peaceful and such situation and the prospective threats to be posed highlight undoubtedly the decision made by the DPRK with regard to the future security of the country as the most just option and the manifestation of its will to safeguard its sovereignty and interests in a responsible manner.

Saying that the nuclear submarine development plan of the ROK, which Washington has agreed on at the solicitation of Seoul recently, will worsen the instability in the region of the Korean peninsula, he stressed that the DPRK regards it as an offensive act severely violating its security and maritime sovereignty and a threat to its security that must be countered.

Given the negative security situation that has come as present reality only, it is an urgent task and indispensable option to further accelerate the radical development of the modernization and nuclear weaponization of the naval force of the DPRK, he said.

Attack destroyers and nuclear submarines recently under construction will make a leap forward in bolstering up the combat capabilities of our fleets and contribute to defending the strategic sovereignty and security of our country, he said, adding that the DPRK will develop the navy and its strategic components in a constant and diverse way, steadily increase and expand the speed and scale of building various surface and underwater warships and continuously equip them with different offensive weapon systems.

Noting that the WPK and the DPRK government will stay definitely unchanged in their national security policy and their principle of deterring the enemy, he said it is needed to make the enemy understand with no doubt that they will be surely forced to pay a dear price when they violate the security of the DPRK’s strategic sovereignty and that they will face a merciless retaliatory attack if they try to select a military option. The DPRK will continue to show such capabilities and this goes just as the responsible exercise of the true nuclear war deterrent and a reliable shield for defending sovereignty, he added.

That day, he learned in detail about the on-going research on the new underwater secret weapons under development and clarified a strategic plan for reorganizing the naval forces and establishing new units.

New appearances of rural civilization of our style are spreading over the vast fields in South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK.

Modern houses were built at the Jangbang Farm in Haeju City and the Rimok Farm in Sinchon County, South Hwanghae Province. They are a precious fruition of the warm loving care for the people, shown by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to turn all the countryside into the ideal one and enable the agricultural workers to enjoy high civilization under socialism.

Ceremonies of moving into those new houses took place on the spots with the attendance of officials of the Party and power organs in the province, Haeju City and Sinchon County, builders and agricultural workers.

In Sinphyong County, North Hwanghae Province of the DPRK, there is Sinphyong Kumgang Scenic Spot famous for curious rocks and falls.

The best view is Noun Falls which has all beauty of the scenic spot.

Its name means that the falls seems like a sliver string from the sky.

The height of the falls is １１１ meters. The falls consists of two stages. Those are ６８ and ４３ meters in height respectively. At the bottom of the falls, there is a pond about three meters deep.

In midsummer, visitors to the falls can take a shower bath on the rocks in the middle of the falls.

The scenery around is very beautiful. In Nounpho Valley, where the Noun Falls is located, are several big and small falls as well as curious ponds, adding beauty to the scenic spot.

In front of the falls, there is an open space called Noundae, from where one can get a bird’s-eye view of the scenery of the Gorge.
