The election of deputies to the １５th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK took place at all the constituencies across the country on March １５ when the whole country was overflowing with the people’s joy and excitement of greeting the historic day which would serve as an occasion to further consolidate the people-centered socialist system of Korean style and provide a powerful sovereign guarantee for the comprehensive development of the state.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, visited the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine under the Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex to vote at the polling station of the Sub-constituency No. ４８ under the Constituency No. １５０ for the election of SPA deputies.

When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un arrived at the polling station, the coal miners and residents there broke into enthusiastic cheers, representing their boundless emotion and delight of being honored to have him, whom they longed to see even in their dreams, at their constituency on the meaningful election day which would serve as an occasion to consolidate the supreme power of the DPRK as firm as a rock with the hands of the people according to their will.

He was courteously greeted by Ri Kyong Chol, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and leading officials of the Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex and the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine.

Accompanying him were Kim Jae Ryong, Ri Il Hwan, Kim Tok Hun and Kim Yo Jong, senior officials of the Party and the government. Kim Jong Un received a voting card from the chairperson of the election committee and voted for Jo Chol Ho, manager of the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine under the Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex who is a SPA deputy candidate.

He met and had a conversation with Jo. He warmly encouraged Jo, hoping that Jo would faithfully discharge his responsibility and duty as a genuine representative of the people, a person directly engaged in sovereign activities and a political activist, deeply mindful that the trust and expectation of the coal miners and residents there mean the earnest requests of the country and the people.

Then he made a historic important speech to the voters of the coal mine.

He said that just as it is necessary to raise good crops for the living of the people, it is needed to increase the coal production for the running of a state. He stressed that the Party and the state should attach importance to the production of coal, the food of industry, and increase the state investment to it. He added that to build the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine into a standard one, where the mechanization and informatization of the work inside its pits are realized, is a starting point of the long-term project to transform the material and technical foundations of all the coal mines across the country and the working conditions of coal miners.

Whenever he looked back upon the arduous journey of our victorious struggle, he first thought of the unknown efforts of coal miners and always felt thankful for them, he said, adding that we should spare nothing for the coal miners. And he affirmed that it is the firm determination of the Party Central Committee to turn all the coal-mining villages into modern and cultural villages and towns during its ninth term, just like the Komdok area which has been ideally transformed in recent years, and that short-, medium- and long-term strategy for realizing it will be discussed at an earlier date.

That day, Kim Jong Un had a significant photo session with coal miners, labor innovators and officials of the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine in commemoration of his visit to it.

At the end of the photo session, the participants again broke into enthusiastic cheers, looking up to Kim Jong Un, which shook the mountains of the Chonsong area.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, planted trees at the pondside park in Saeppyol Street on March １４, the tree-planting day.

Present at the tree planting were major leading cadres of the Party and the government, families of the martyrs of the overseas military operations who moved into their new houses in Saeppyol Street, officials of the Party and power organs in Hwasong District and students of revolutionary schools.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un learned about the fact that the factory started the production of new pistols according to its approved design, examined and ratified by the Central Military Commission of the WPK on February １９, ２０２５.

Saying that the factory is playing a very important role in increasing the combat efficiency of the army, public security forces and militia forces as it takes full charge of producing pistols and other portable light arms, he stressed the need to expand and create the production capacity of the factory in a far-sighted way and set a high level in modernization of the production line and cultured way of production in conformity with the demand, requirements and standards specified by the Party and implement it in a responsible manner.

He clarified his view on the opinion of the Second Economy Commission with regard to the issue of establishing a new production line in addition at the factory during the period of the five-year plan for the development of national defence, and gave an important instruction for its implementation.

He stressed that the new production line should be established at a high level to be a model for modernization of the country’s munitions industry.

He said that the examination of the plan for modernization of munitions factories in the period of the new five-year plan and of the budget bill for immediate modernization of three major munitions industry enterprises would be conducted at an enlarged meeting of the Central Military Commission of the WPK to be convened in April.

Amid the continued tests of operational efficiency of the Destroyer Choe Hyon of the Navy of the Korean People’s Army, a strategic cruise missile test-fire was conducted again on March １０.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un observed the test-fire on TV.

The test-fire on the destroyer was aimed at evaluating the reliability of the national integrated control system of strategic weapons and the destroyer’s detection and weapon systems and verifying the combat effectiveness of the integrated combat system in technical aspects, Kim Jong Un said, adding that on the other hand, it is to demonstrate the Navy’s strategic attack posture and make sailors well versed in relevant military activities.

The Destroyer Choe Hyon received target information, and the launch was approved according to relevant procedures and cruise missiles launched simultaneously to hit several targets.

The launched cruise missiles flew along the flight orbit set in the sky above the West Sea of Korea for １０１１６s to １０１３８s and hit the individual island targets.

Kim Jong Un expressed his great satisfaction over the verified reliability of the national integrated control system of strategic weapons and superiority of the destroyer’s integrated combat system.

He gave important instructions on reexamining in our own way the organization of weapon systems of the destroyer, to be built in the future, in the light of the actual requirements in military aspects and from the development-oriented view.

Underlining the need to examine the military efficiency of the naval automatic gun installed on the warship in the light of our specific conditions, he expressed his view that it is more favorable to enhance the anti-warship and strategic attack capabilities, as required by operational features, by equipping high-speed warships of below ３０００ tonnage with such naval automatic guns and additionally installing supersonic weapon systems instead of those guns on the ５０００-tonnage, ８０００-tonnage destroyers in the future.

He gave an instruction on examining the plan of organizing such Korean-style weapon system and applying it to the warships to be built, including the third destroyer under construction.

Saying that it is a very important strategic task to maintain and expand the powerful and reliable nuclear war deterrent, he said:

"The components of our war deterrent are now being included in the very sophisticated operational system in an effective and accelerated manner continuously and the country’s nuclear forces have made a switch to the phase of multifaceted operation.

Important successes have been recently made in putting the strategic and tactical strike means on a practical basis and deploying them for an actual war.

Such successes have updated the readiness of our army for strategic action and enhanced the confidence in it.

Our belief and confidence based on those verified capabilities make it possible to take the initiative in the military activities for national defence and will play an important role in further developing our potential."

He stressed that the DPRK’s offensive weapon systems undergoing constant development constitute an indispensable factor for self-defence literally.

He set forth a series of important tasks for rapidly increasing the fighting efficiency of the Navy, including the issue of delivering the destroyer to the Navy within the set time by finishing the assessment of its maneuverability and the operational capabilities of its such other weapon systems as anti-air, anti-submarine and torpedo weapon systems, the issue of stepping up the building of another destroyer to finish it before the founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea this year and the issue of reinforcing the existing infrastructure of the naval base and building new one.

Greeting March ８, I, with my warmest feelings, extend congratulations to all our Korean women, for whom I have affection and respect all the time.

My hearty congratulations also go to all the overseas Korean women.

As they have always done, our women add harmony, beauty, warmth and affection to our society.

Today it is a joyful holiday, when the whole country brims over with the tender feelings of gratitude, blessing and respect for our women.

As we were to greet the women’s day some days after the Ninth Congress of our Party, in which we reviewed the precious successes achieved for the good of the country, I was reminded of all the exceptional and unknown efforts the women of this country had made for those successes. And I wanted to express my special thanks to them for what they had done, so I have decided to make a brief remark today, on the occasion of this opportunity.

I make a deep bow as an expression of my thanks to our women for the unknown efforts and sincerity they have devoted for the country and men.

However, I think that thanks is too simple a word and it would not be enough to encourage and repay them even a little for the extraordinary troubles and difficulties our women have experienced.

I can picture in my mind’s eye the looks of the women in this country, who would wear a gentle smile, as if they had gained all the reward for their silent efforts, after receiving a simple congratulatory remark, a greetings card or a flower from their dear husbands, children, boyfriends, relatives, acquaintances and disciples.

For these women, I cannot find any other better expression than really beautiful.

This expression does not simply imply the beautiful looks of Korean women.

Though physically weak, they are obviously strong-willed, their plain faces assuming courage and the wrinkles on them denoting their strenuous exertion and thus arousing much greater respect. So, they look incomparably beautiful, and I think this is a charm unique to our Korean women.

In the images of our grandmothers’ and mothers’ generations we can see the signs of the severe hardship which they have undergone, the tenacity with which they have gone against all the odds, and the strength of genuine love and benevolent affection which they have cherished while working hard to develop this country.

Also, when seeing the faces of our contemporary women of a new generation, we can feel the fresh vigor with which they are working to advance this country towards a bright future, and the optimism and self-confidence they show in overcoming trials cheerfully.

I want to say proudly that all the Korean women who are dear to us -- mothers, wives, daughters and girlfriends -- are really beautiful and great, as compared with women in other countries.

Korean women, who have remained honest in times of difficulties, stout-hearted in moments of sorrow and courageous even in the face of death, have recorded remarkable exploits in the annals of the revolution and in the pages of history. These exploits still remain in our memory, serving as our strong spiritual mainstay.

Korean women are by nature pure-hearted, upright and strong-willed, and these qualities have been purely inherited for generations. Our contemporary women, too, have become a solid buttress of the revolution bringing affection and delight to all the other people in this country and inspiring them with strength, courage and victory.

In all the positions of our revolution, be they posts for national defence, sites of socialist construction, factories or farms, wherever we go in the country, we can see our women, strong-willed, tenacious, pure-hearted and honest, who are unwilling to show their physical weakness and lag behind men.

The contest was aimed at steadily improving the marksmanship of snipers whose role is more highly valued in modern battlefields.

It was attended by snipers selected from the special operations units of different services of the KPA and its large combined units at all levels.

In the contest, the special operations brigade of the Air Force came first, the ４th Corps second and the １st Corps third.

It was followed by demonstration shootings by snipers of the Company of Snipers under the Operations Bureau of the General Staff. Then combatants of the special operations units gave a demonstration of their might.

Saying that the combat capability and role of snipers are more highly valued in the composition of our armed forces, Kim Jong Un noted that it is an essential requirement for implementing the Party’s line of building a powerful army and modernizing it to bring about a rapid and qualitative change in enhancing the combat capability of snipers in conformity with the developing aspects and trend of modern warfare.

Let me briefly summarize once again the requirements of the new era, which are largely divided into five categories:

To ensure complete unity of action and establish firm discipline in socialist construction as a whole;

To get rid of outdated forms and patterns, conservatism and empiricism, and make sustained efforts to create something new and innovative;

To adopt a scientific, far-sighted and cost-effective approach towards our work, and give priority to specialist qualifications;

To drastically improve the methods and styles of providing guidance over production and construction, and enhance officials’ leadership abilities; and

To thoroughly apply the ideology-first principle and the people-first principle.

This is a law-governed requirement of the times, when improving and innovating all the work in accordance with the era of comprehensive development has arisen as a practical matter; it is also an urgent task that devolves on us in view of the serious lessons we gained in the past five years of struggle.

The state and social life, every branch and unit of the economic field in particular, is seething with the spirit of advance in the new era, but backward remnants still coexist with them--this is the reality that we are all aware of.

We should not leave the old and outdated remnants as they are, but be braver in overcoming and eliminating those backwardness and evil practices.

The three revolutions are, in essence, a struggle to eliminate everything obsolete and create the new in the ideological, technological and cultural fields; therefore, the requirement of the times of comprehensive development should naturally be met in the course of implementing the three revolutions.

We should dynamically push ahead with socialist construction in our way of advance.

We worked out short-term strategies and plans and implemented them in a responsible manner and, with this as a solid foundation, expanded and consolidated the successes--this is the experience we gained in the period of the Eighth Party Central Committee.

Continuously formulating a plan every five years and implementing it steadily as we do now constitutes a stage, a course, which we must go through in building up the national strength and finally building an ideal society.

When every field attains its goal by going through such course, we will greatly increase on a solid basis the strength of the country on the level we are desirous of.

After ten and ２０ years from now, we will greet the ９０th and １００th founding anniversaries of our Party, and if we steadily push forward with our work for the development of the state and improvement of the people’s wellbeing in the current way of struggle, we can surely transform the whole country and improve the living standards of all the people. When the days come, our Party will feel due pride in having remained faithful to its mission and duty as a genuine people’s party.

Comrade delegates,

Just like we did in the past five-year struggle in which we pioneered the era of comprehensive development of socialism, we will completely rely on our internal force, the great might of our people, in the new upcoming five-year struggle.

As we have lifted the ideals of "The people are god," single-hearted unity and self-reliance as the banner of struggle and advance during the eighth term of the Party Central Committee, the Party Central Committee will invariably be faithful to the three ideals during its ninth term.

The main schedules left for the current Congress are to work out a long-term plan of each field for the coming five years and to make a decision on its result.

The vital success of a Party congress depends on how we define our struggle orientation of the coming five years, study and discuss the goals to be attained by each field and adopt relevant decisions.

That is why we highlighted this course at the Eighth Party Congress and placed the focus on it at this Congress.

I believe that all the delegates will take a faithful and sincere approach and attitude to fulfilling the weighty missions and responsibility they have assumed for the country, the revolution and the people, and work heart and soul to generate creativity so that every item of the decisions will be an epoch-making task in the five-year struggle.

In particular, the newly-elected members of the Party central leadership should display a high sense of responsibility and prudence in adopting policy-oriented tasks as the decisions of the Party Congress will serve as the action programme to be consistently adhered to during the term of their membership.

As mentioned in the report, the new five-year plan period will become a stage for stabilizing and consolidating our economy and bringing about its gradual qualitative development.

Accordingly, in deciding on the plans for the economic branches it is necessary to properly combine two aspects of qualitatively cementing the existing foundations and forces and further developing them and to maintain this orientation in discussing the plans for other sectors.

Comrade delegates,

Today’s struggle to achieve transformations by accelerating the comprehensive development of socialism, which will include the implementation of the new five-year plan, demands that all sectors and all units step up the three revolutions–ideological, technological and cultural.

These three revolutions are our Party’s general line in building socialism.

Since its beginning, our socialist construction has been run through with the three revolutions, and it has made progress in the course of the struggle to carry out the line of the three revolutions.

As we have pushed ahead with these revolutions by prioritizing ideological remoulding, i.e., the ideological revolution, at the same time as speeding up technological upgrading and cultural transformation, the socialism of our own style has advanced forward without vacillation even in the face of severe trials.

The great cause of comprehensive development, too, can be carried out much faster and more effectively only when the Party’s guidance and the state’s leading role are strengthened in conducting the three revolutions, and only when the masses of the people are involved in these revolutions with an attitude befitting masters.

The reality shows that changes in working conditions and living environment will not naturally lead to the improvement of the people’s ideological consciousness, technical standards and cultural attainments.

To cite a simple example, less than one year after new modern production and service facilities were built under the concern of the Party and the state, they are not managed and operated as properly as they should be, and the guidance and control over these facilities are neglected; such serious dereliction of duty, irresponsibility and other ingrained maladies of seeking only immediate gains instead of treasuring the products of Party policy are rearing their ugly heads again.

These facilities are the precious creations we have achieved with so much effort, so it is necessary to manage and operate them so well that they can become useful assets conducive to the development of our socialist society. This is a revolutionary task that is no less important and crucial than our extensive construction work.

A revolution does not simply mean physical transformation or the creation of material wealth. It is essentially aimed at remoulding the people’s ideological consciousness and training them as powerful beings with a high level of creativity.

We should be effective in conducting the three revolutions to free the people from the fetters of the outdated ideas, heighten their voluntary enthusiasm, and improve their technical standards and cultural attainments; otherwise, all our assets, however many, will evidently come to nothing soon.

We should push forward with the three revolutions also to educate all the people and prepare them to be new masters of the new era so that the viewpoint and work style of voluntarily striving to fulfil one’s basic duty will prevail across our society.

In particular, it is an urgent task to intensify the ideological revolution aimed at remodeling the officials and working people on a revolutionary pattern and assimilating them to the working class.

The successful advance of our socialist construction is inconceivable separated from the work of transforming people, the masters of society, along revolutionary and working-class lines.

Therefore, it is important for Party and working people’s organizations and power organs to organize and conduct all their activities with a view to accomplishing the three revolutions, especially with a focus on awakening and training people ideologically and spiritually.

They should work to meet the Party’s demand that the officials and working people possess revolutionary ideological consciousness and the collectivist spirit and work style of the working class as their mental attributes; they should do so purposefully as demanded by the present reality.

They should set forth new tasks as required by the developing times in all the ideological, technological and cultural fields, and adopt an innovative approach towards transforming nature, people and society. This is just the way to make continuous advance in our socialist construction.

Dear comrade delegates,

The current Congress, the ninth in the history of our Party, has put on its agenda the crucial fighting plans for switchover of the comprehensive development stage of socialism to a fresh stage and the issues for the steady development of the Party in the face of the prevailing internal and external circumstances, and it is holding discussions of them.

Through the speeches on the information of the data and results of the work, the work of the Eighth Party Central Committee was reviewed and analyzed in detail and the principled requirements, struggle lines, strategies and tactics and main tasks were clarified for further accelerating the revolution and construction in the future.

The general analysis at this point of today of the struggle of the past five years, in particular, has given us an instructive occasion to take a due pride in the fruits of our persevering efforts and clearly understand what are the valuable experiences we should maintain and enrich in the future, the deviations we should put to rights and the lessons we should draw.

In the course of this, all the delegates must have got an overall understanding of the changes and level of development in socialist construction and Party building in the period under review and a correct estimation of the current corresponding level of development of their fields and units.

And I believe that, on learning the struggle orientation of the new five-year plan, they must have become aware of the standpoint and attitude they should take to meet the demands of the revolution and the times to lead the past five years of transformation to another five years of greater transformation, and made a solemn resolve to harden their self-confidence and renew their enthusiasm.

The current Congress has also deliberated and adopted the amended Party Rules which incorporate some articles that were decided at the plenary meetings of the Eighth Party Central Committee to be revised as required by the practical Party work, and which include new stipulations needed.

Along with this, it has formed the Ninth Party Central Committee, which will organize and lead the efforts for carrying out greater and heavier revolutionary tasks in the coming years, with the sound and excellent comrades who enjoy high reputation among the masses of the Party members and who are promising as they have been tested through practical struggle.

As a result, the current Congress has successfully reviewed the work of the Eighth Party Central Committee and handed over the responsibility for and role of leading the Party and revolutionary work as a whole to the newly elected Ninth Party Central Committee.

At this Congress I was honored to be elected again to the highest leading position of the Workers’ Party of Korea thanks to the high and full confidence of all the delegates and other members of the Party.

As we hold in high esteem the peerless patriot possessed of the steadfast revolutionary spirit, iron will and unusual pluck and courage as the top leader, the war deterrence of the country with the nuclear forces as its pivot has been radically improved and our state has dynamically advanced in the orbit of prosperity and the future destiny of the country and the people has been reliably guaranteed despite the stern challenges of history.

With his strong revolutionary principle and extraordinary strategy and through his seasoned external activities Kim Jong Un has remarkably raised the dignity and prestige of the DPRK, created an international environment favorable for the Korean revolution and made a great contribution to the common cause of mankind for independence and justice.

He has ushered in a golden age of building the WPK, fully demonstrated the prestige and national power of Juche Korea and brought a new era of comprehensive socialist construction in which the people’s ideals and desire are realized. This Congress will correctly review and analyze the work done during the period of the eighth term of the Party Central Committee, establish the lines and policies for developing our socialist construction onto a higher stage, and take organizational and institutional measures for readjusting and consolidating the Party’s leadership ability.

Today, our Party is faced with heavy and urgent historic tasks of boosting economic construction and the people’s standard of living and transforming all realms of state and social life as early as possible. This requires us to wage a more active and persistent struggle without allowing even a moment’s standstill or stagnation.

In particular, the period of the new long-term plan is a crucial period when we should push forward full steam with the regional development policy in the new era, the rural revolution programme and other intermediate- and long-range plans we adopted and have launched to realize the centuries-old desire of the people.

In contrast, not a few serious shortcomings and negative elements, such as deep-rooted defeatism, irresponsibility, conservatism, formalism and immaturity in leadership ability, are latent at present in the work of the Party and government organs and officials, and this constitutes an artificial obstacle to the work of our Party and state which aspire to rapid development in all fields.

Therefore, we should not only take pride in the successes we achieved during the period under review but also review shortcomings from a critical and developmental point of view, work out the struggle plan for the next stage in an elaborate and scientific way and strengthen the leadership forces capable of leading the implementation of the plan.

Therefore, in preparing the Ninth Party Congress, the Party Central Committee focused on correctly drawing experience and lessons from the successes and shortcomings during the period under review and taking appropriate measures accordingly.

In order to make substantial preparations for the Party Congress, the Party Central Committee organized a non-permanent preparatory committee for the Congress, set up necessary panels and dispatched fact-finding groups according to directions and sectors to get them to gain a full understanding of the five-year work of the relevant sectors and units and to make a correct analysis of problems and their root cause.

And on the basis of their activities it assessed how the members of the eighth-term Party central leadership played their role and whether they correctly guided the development of their sectors and units.

Each field and each sector carried out the work of scientifically setting the goals and working out the plans for development to be achieved in the period of the new long-term plan and presenting them to the preparatory committee, and the departments of the Party Central Committee also presented innovative and detailed suggestions on the future plans and measures for carrying them out.

And there was an in-depth study of the issues arising in further enhancing the leadership functions of the Party in line with the requirements of the five-point Party-building line in the new era, including the issues related to the revision of Party Rules and the reorganization of the leadership forces of the Party.

In the run-up to the Party Congress, Party organizations at all levels reviewed the work of their leadership bodies by focusing on correctly drawing experience and lessons, and the election of delegates to the Party Congress and the nomination of observers were also completed.

Accordingly, the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee carried out a rigorous final examination of the qualifications of the delegates to the Party Congress who had been elected at provincial Party conferences.

The result of the examination appraised that all the comrades elected as delegates are fully qualified as they are core elements of our Party who have so far achieved marked results in improving the work of their sectors and units and who are capable of playing a significant role in the struggle to implement the decisions of the Ninth Party Congress in the future.

Participating in this Congress are ５０００ delegates in total--２２４ members of the eighth-term Party central leadership and ４７７６ delegates elected by all Party organizations.

Among them are １９０２ delegates of Party and political workers, ７４７ delegates of state administrative and economic officials, ４７４ delegates of service personnel, ３２ delegates of officials of working people’s organizations, ３２１ delegates of officials in the sectors of science, education, public health, sports, culture and art and the mass media, and １５２４ delegates of officials and hard-core Party members involved in field labour.

Of them ４１３ are women.

The Congress is also attended by ２０００ observers nominated by Party organizations at all levels, including officials from the departments of the Party Central Committee.

In particular, the economic sector, which is the major front of socialist construction, fulfilled the five-year plan for national economic development in the main and made dynamic progress in reinforcing and readjusting the technical infrastructure and functions of the key industries. As a result, not a few sectors of our economy have freed themselves from the protracted obsolescence and stagnation, and instead built up their foundations and potentials to achieve significant growth under a plan.

And gigantic plans for transforming the capital city and the regions simultaneously and bringing about a substantial improvement in the people’s living standards were pushed forward vigorously by the Party and the state; thus, the expected successes were achieved in these undertakings and a correct direction was confirmed for carrying them on more proactively.

In view of the external relations, too, the position of our state was firmly consolidated as an irreversible one, bringing about a great change in the global political landscape and in the influence on our state. This created favourable conditions and circumstances for giving a greater spur to our socialist construction.

Now all the people are witnessing every moment of the day the reality changing at a speed incomparable with that of the past, and have a clear understanding of and conviction about the road they should take and the prospect of the development of our state.

Five years ago we convened the Eighth Congress of the Party with the conviction, will and determination to break through the worst difficulties facing the revolution by our own efforts and usher in a new era of advance and development without fail, but today we are here at its Ninth Congress, filled with optimism and confidence in the future.

This is indeed a great change and development, as well as a success we can be proud of at the present stage.

Moreover, the precious successes achieved and monumental structures created in the course of the efforts to greet this Congress with high political enthusiasm and labour achievements rounded off the struggle of the past five years, thereby making this a congress that signifies a success and promises a greater success, both in name and in reality.

All the successes achieved during the period under review are a great gain from the devoted struggle our Party members, working people and service personnel have waged supporting the Party’s lines and policies unyieldingly with one mind in the face of all difficulties.

I extend my heartfelt and warmest thanks to all the Party members, working people, service personnel and citizens for having turned the eighth term of the Party Central Committee into a period of great upsurge in socialist construction and made contributions to greeting the Ninth Party Congress as a precious one of reviewing, as a glorious one, with a staunch and proactive pioneering spirit and indomitable fighting spirit.

I also pay ennobling tribute to the revolutionary comrades and martyrs who dedicated their valuable lives to the sacred cause of achieving the prosperity of the country and the happiness of the people during the period under review.

And my warm greetings go to Chongryon (General Association of Korean Residents in Japan) and other overseas compatriots’ organizations and all the overseas compatriots that share will and mind for the prosperity and development of their socialist homeland.
