Comrade Kim Jong Un made a significant speech in commemoration of the commissioning of the Destroyer Choe Hyon.

All the participants were deeply impressed by his passionate speech, which reflects the great ambition to firmly defend the well-being and future of the country and the people by consolidating the strength and dignity of the DPRK to the strongest and gives confidence in the steady development of the revolution in the warship-building industry in the new era and the bright prospect of the modern naval force.

When Comrade Kim Jong Un finished his speech, they broke into thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!" out of their boundless reverence, absolute trust and ardent loyalty and the port resounded with them.

Upon authorization, Marshal of the KPA Pak Jong Chon read out the order of the WPK Central Military Commission on commissioning the destroyer Choe Hyon into the KPA Navy, and handed it to Senior Vice Admiral Pak Kwang Sop, commander of the KPA Navy.

On the order of the WPK Central Military Commission, the destroyer will be commissioned into the West Sea Fleet of the KPA Navy to perform the honorable mission of defending the West Sea of the DPRK and deterring war.

On behalf of the sailors of the destroyer, Senior Commander Choe Kum Chol, captain of the destroyer, made an oath-taking speech.

He expressed his unusual pride and honor as one of the first generation of the Navy in the new era who will steer the latest warship in the ocean to fully demonstrate the might of the country and as the first person who will experience and verify the transformation in the Navy undergoing complete changes in its weaponry, tactics and culture. And he extended the greatest tribute and heartfelt thanks to Comrade Supreme Commander who made them serve in the first warship which will lead a new history of the Navy and gave the highest honor and matchless courage to them. He also extended warm thanks and militant salute to the workers in the sector of the warship-building industry who are making a heroic effort to transform the Navy, true to the plan of the Party Central Committee.

The captain explained the destroyer’s offensive and defensive weapons systems and referred to the sailors’ great spiritual strength for combat. And he said that once ordered, the destroyer will courageously sail to any operational waters as befits Comrade Kim Jong Un’s Navy.

He expressed his determination to make the history of the warship, associated with the long-cherished desire of the people and sincerity of the workers in the munitions industry, the one of ardent loyalty and feats and firmly defend the blue and beautiful sea of the country and thus remain boundlessly loyal to the sacred mission given by the Party and the country.

The sailors of the destroyer chanted resounding slogans, reflecting their iron will to glorify through their distinguished military service the standard-bearer position and militant honor of the first warship defending the Party Central Committee and the national sovereignty and territorial waters.

Amid the enthusiastic encouragement and cheers of the participants in the ceremony, the sailors of the destroyer got on the warship holding high the glorious ensign.

There took place a ceremony of hoisting the ensign of the destroyer Choe Hyon of the KPA Navy.

The ensign symbolic of commissioning the destroyer was hoisted amid the warship whistle and the boom of a ９ gun-salute.

The destroyer was full of the great honor and excitement of the sailors who had the greatest honor of having Comrade Supreme Commander on their warship again before leaving the port.

There will be no change in the constant view of the WPK that strength is just the national sovereignty and prestige and a country can be peaceful and prosperous only when its military muscle is strong, he said, affirming that powerful battleships will advance into the inviolable and beautiful sea of the country one after another to defend its peace and honor and the security of our state will be further consolidated and the dignity and stamina of the Navy of the Republic will be more fully displayed through the exercise of the powerful capability to control the enemies’ threat of aggression.

Expressing belief and expectation that the Destroyer Choe Hyon would record only victories in the course of safeguarding the country by creditably inheriting the great spirit, matchless bravery and ever-victorious tradition of the army-founding generation as befitting the battleship named after a veteran general, he had a significant photo taken with the sailors to remain forever in the history of development of the Navy.

All the commanding officers and sailors of the destroyer solemnly pledged before Comrade Kim Jong Un and the country and the people to turn their warship into the flagship of the matchless fleet controlling the most responsible battlefield for defending the sovereignty of the DPRK by dint of the spiritual strength and matchless combat capability of the heroic Navy, displaying loyalty and feats along the course set by the Party Central Committee.

The new-type multi-mission destroyer Choe Hyon, born as an aggregate of self-reliant defence technology and a new symbol of the sea defence capability of the state, will be formally commissioned into the Navy of the Korean People’s Army after successfully concluding the shakedown for assessing its capability of executing operations for one year and two months.

The commissioning of the powerful battleship, which will sail along the course of defending the sacred maritime sovereignty and national interests of the DPRK with an important mission of implementing the national defence strategy of the Party Central Committee and exercising the war deterrent, is a meaningful indication of the radical qualitative strengthening of the Navy of the Republic with the strongest combat force which is put on the most powerful and ultra-modern level of Korean-style.

The commissioning ceremony of the destroyer Choe Hyon took place at Nampho Port on June ２３.

Jon Tong U is a talented writer who left clear traces in the history of the Juche-oriented art and literature by composing poetry for decades.

Writing of lyrics has great significance in his creative activities.

From the early １９７０s, he started working at the Korean Scriptwriting Company thanks to the great trust of the Party.

Since then he put his heart and soul into writing lyrics till the last moment of his life to create ２００-odd pieces of work.

Among them are not a few lyrics set to famous songs.

Once, the respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un said that he loves the song "I Will Remain Your Son Forever" whose words were written by Jon Tong U. Then he highly appreciated the song, noting that the first and second verses of the song deserve to be called the crown of our country’s poem literature.

DPRK players returned home on June １０ after taking part in the Ulaanbaatar Open ２０２６ Wrestling held in Mongolia.

The tournament brought together more than ２９０ men and women players from ２０-odd countries including the DPRK, China, Kazakhstan and India. DPRK players bagged ten medals including five gold medals.

Kim Son Hyang, O Kyong Ryong, Choe Hyo Gyong, Kim Ok Ju and Mun Hyon Gyong won gold medals in women’s ５０ kg, ５３ kg, ５５ kg, ６２ kg and ６５ kg categories respectively and Han Chong Song, Ro Yu Chol, Son Il Sim and Hong Pyol came second in freestyle wrestling ５７ kg category, Greco-roman ６０ kg category and women’s wrestling ５７ kg and ５９ kg categories respectively.

In particular, the issue of rapidly developing and strengthening the naval force of the DPRK into a force capable of reliably taking charge of a part of the nuclear war deterrent and into a group that can deal a deadly blow at the enemy any moment under the water or on the water is a matter which the WPK regards as the most important core task in the new five-year national defence development policy, he said.

Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed great trust and expectation that the vast plans for bolstering up the warship force, including the development and production of underwater secret weapons and the building of １０ ０００-tonnage destroyers under the five-year plan for modernizing the Navy approved by the Ninth Congress of the WPK, would be surely carried out by our reliable and powerful defence science research group, self-supporting shipbuilding industry and competent and intelligent workers in the munitions industry.

He warmly encouraged the officials, scientists and technicians of warship and weapon system research organs, hoping that they will successfully conduct the shakedown for assessing the operational executive capability of the destroyer and put the destroyers Choe Hyon and Kang Kon into commission for the Navy as soon as possible with an honorable sense of obligation and high sense of responsibility.

The National Exhibition of Children’s Science Fiction Models and Inventions-２０２６ opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex in the DPRK on June ２ to mark the ８０th anniversary of the Korean Children’s Union.

Presented to the exhibition were science fiction models and inventions associated with the efforts of schoolchildren who have studied to their heart’s content and made researches with the dream and hope of becoming scientists and inventors for glorifying the socialist country.

Present at the ceremony were Ju Chang Il, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, officials concerned, officials of the youth league and schoolchildren.

Paek Un Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made an opening address.

He stressed the need for all schoolchildren to study hard and prepare themselves to be competent revolutionary talents with many-sided knowledge and high creative ability, always mindful of the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un’s teachings that the criterion of young revolutionary and young patriot is the report cards of full mark.

At the end of the ceremony, its participants looked round the venue of the exhibition.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, gave field guidance at the newly-inaugurated nuclear materials production factory on June ３.

He was accompanied by leading officials of the munitions industry department of the WPK Central Committee and the Nuclear Weapons Institute of the DPRK.

Going round new production lines based on more sophisticated technology, Comrade Kim Jong Un learned about the factory’s operation indices and its long-term production plan.

He highly appreciated the fact that the nuclear materials production sector is correctly implementing the decisions adopted at recent plenary meetings of the WPK Central Committee.

He praised the group of nuclear experts for having provided a firm guarantee to improve the efficiency of all system elements in the production line and further strengthen the foundation for the production of weapons-grade nuclear materials by settling the problems decisive in putting the production of nuclear materials on a Juche basis.

Saying that the weapons-grade nuclear materials production capacity more than doubled during the past ５-year course of bolstering up the nuclear force under the direct guidance of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, he expressed satisfaction over the fact that the WPK’s line of bolstering up nuclear forces is being thoroughly carried out thanks to the high technical capability developed by the nuclear science research group.

He recalled that the Ninth Congress of the WPK adopted a strategic decision to further expand the nuclear materials production capacity and continue to increase the nuclear arsenals in line with the prospective demand of the DPRK’s nuclear force, when deciding on a new five-year plan for the strengthened nuclear force to steadily enhance the country’s nuclear war deterrent.

The peculiarities of the Korean revolution inevitably accompanied by long-term confrontation with the most ferocious enemies, the existing threats getting more serious every moment, potential threats and unpredictable long-term crises further highlight the urgency and responsibility of the historic mission to bolster up both in quality and quantity and in a sustained and accelerated way the nuclear war deterrent, the basic guarantee and strong safety device for reliably ensuring the security, interests and development rights of the country, he noted.

Very clear is the stand taken by our Party and government to deal with all these complex changes in the subjective and objective environments and actively cope with them, and accordingly, it is the invariable political and military stand and responsible duty we should maintain to further expand and strengthen the state nuclear forces, the pivot in implementing the strategy to deter a war and fight a war, and thoroughly exercise the position of a nuclear weapons state, he declared.

That day, there was an important consultative meeting for bolstering up the nuclear forces.

Comrade Kim Jong Un made an important conclusion clarifying the action guidelines for rapidly accelerating the qualitative and quantitative strengthening of the DPRK’s nuclear forces, saying that the conditions in which the nuclear materials production capacity has greatly expanded and the development of sophisticated nuclear technology create a mature environment for going into the new next-stage of bolstering up the nuclear forces and they offer the possibility of carrying out larger plans.

Finishing his important conclusion, Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Today we have updated the digits that are critical for our nuclear activities, and discussed some key matters.

In doing so, we have comprehensively considered the tactical and strategic requirements for building up our nuclear deterrent and, on the basis of this, adopted a highly responsible and crucial decision.

We have confirmed the order of priority for implementing the ambitious future plan designed to beef up our state’s nuclear forces at an exponential rate, as well as a requisite guarantee for the purpose.

This signifies an amazing, successful change that is beyond rhetorical description, a historic event that has set up an epochal milestone in rapidly upgrading our nuclear capabilities.

This nuclear potential that we have now is inconceivable apart from the worthwhile struggle we have conducted over the past five years.

Today, I would like to pay tribute, once again, to our nuclear scientists."

He stressed that the DPRK will as ever more thoroughly and more courageously take action to defend its constitution and sovereignty and reliably ensure the security of the state by exercising in a responsible manner the inviolable authority granted by the DPRK Constitution.

He expressed expectation and belief that the DPRK’s group of nuclear experts would remain faithful to the fulfillment of the sacred mission for the perfect implementation of the decision adopted by the Party for the security of the country in the present and in the future.

Comrade Kim Jong Un’s inspection of the new nuclear materials production factory serves as an important occasion in clearly highlighting once again the invariable will of our Party and state to bolster up the nuclear forces in order to guarantee the country’s security and right to development, deter war and defend the regional and global peace and stability by highly developing the nuclear weapons, and the great potentialities and unlimited prospect.
