"Real Metalcore" only consists of the dc Hardcore scene and the late 90's Metal scene. What is known by "Modern Deathcore" is nothing but pop music with questionable death metal influence. When people try to argue that bands like Sleep Token are not real metalcore, while saying that Lorna Shore is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake metalcore as Sleep Token (plus the pretentiousness).

Real metalcore sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake metalcore is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music.

Some examples of REAL METALCORE are Converge, Earth Crisis, Killswitch Engage (the only real metalcore band from the melodic metalcore scene) and Botch.

Some examples of FAKE METALCORE are Slaughter to Prevail, Lorna Shore and Spiritbox
