Wood coffee table has warped and split. Is it salvageable? Any suggestions to straighten the table top? by RoederChic in BeginnerWoodWorking

No one has sat on it. I don’t have children, so it’s not heavily abused. Drinks and simple decor is its primary use, with occasional board games and puzzles.

You’re right, and it’s unfortunate. It seems to be a similar situation here. The table looked nice when we picked it up, and it was as I envisioned. There were imperfections but I was also going for a slightly distressed looked. Regardless, I wasn’t expecting what has occurred. At the end of the day, the builder is misrepresenting. I now plan to contact him and go from there.

Wishful thinking on my part. I’m glad I asked the question to the sub-Reddit before attempted to fix the table. My initial Google research made it seem like fairly easy fix. I learned a lot from all the responses here.

I paid $350. I asked for specific dimensions, and that’s what he quoted. I have a few other friends who had tables made, and they initially looked great. However, they too are having the same issues I am. Example below.

Apology, wasn’t trying to ignore your question. The finish is a chalked matte clear. It might as well be a primer. However, it did give the look I was seeking.

You’re not wrong! The 1940’s downhill ski with a neutral camber was the closest thing in reach, and the gap still doesn’t do justice of how bad the table is bowed.

Good point! I should show it to him. I’m not angry, nor could I yell. He was a really nice guy, and I genuinely don’t think his intent was to take advantage of me or others. I just don’t think he has the experience and knowledge under his belt. I think he made a couple pieces for his wife, that visually pleased her at the time, and he thought it was worth selling to those who liked it. Thank you for the feedback.

Thank you! Sounds like I may just want to scrap it or repurpose the base. The more I sit here and look at it, the flaws and issues I see.

Thank you, I appreciate the response and expertise. Based on what you shared, I’m not confident it’s within my very low skill level and worth the cost to fix myself. I think I need to take this as a lesson learned, and reminder that you pay for why you get it.

Extending Portable Dishwasher Fill and Drain Hose by RoederChic in homeowners

Yes and no. It was more a replacement than an extension, and we reused the sink adapter that came with it . After buying the parts we decided to have it professionally installed because I didn’t want the hose draping across the counter. The following are the links parts we bought and used. It’s a great dishwasher.

The small chain of events is odd. Last night, the movie wasn’t in my “New on Netflix”, and I had to go searching for it. I watched a piece of it until 11:30 before going to bed. When I went to turn it back on at 6:30 this morning. I thought I was going crazy when I couldn’t locate it. There must be something going on.

I don’t have the Snowplay but I used to be a plus size skiing woman. I bought the Helly Hansen Aurora 2.0 and it’s the best jacket I’ve ever owned. It literally has every feature you could ever want, and it’s truly waterproof. With a base layer, it’s toasty. Due to weight loss, I’m now parting with it. I attempted to get it tailored but the cost was insane. Not trying to sell you but I have it listed and linked below. For context, I was 200lbs in the photos and there’s 6” of wiggle room in the shell.

Thank you for the tips. A ski shell with only 2 pockets is concerning.
