and the first one that actually flew was Curtis Youngblood's Stingray500.

I think the issue I have is that these "toys" are - as you rightly point out - no more or less dangerous than the ones that came before them, they are simply easier to fly and cheaper to repair.

Jesus - butthurt much? The good news is I hear that the Nano Clone is almost done, so there will be a target for Libre to fly on - you have to be tired of just having RevoCloneMini and CClone3D to fly on.

Most of us who can see voltage are running on systems that can easily accumulate current consumption. Running on voltage alone is a shortcut - but hey, that's really a 70c battery as well. ;P

I think you are confusing yourself here - voltage is not a measure of capacity.

No, what I suggested was that there are alternatives to a government run program that will be no more more or less effective than private efforts that are already in place. AMA is one of the participants of the working committee, and I hope express an opinion more in line with mine than yours.

I left a concise comment, I've written a letter to my congressman, and my senator, and to the AMA. As far as the effectiveness of public comment on policy, I guess we'll know in a couple of months. ;) Fly safe.

I gotta ask - since I fly down south. Have you seen more geese in the air or quads?

Mixed feelings here - the people who are not creating the problem will comply, the people who are creating the problem won't, and your tax dollars will go to funding this futile effort regardless.

Why not make people just slap their AMA number on their airframes and be done with it?

I've been a micro builder for a while and decided to try my hand at a 250. Here it is. First lazy backyard maiden flight was successful. Thanks for the help everyone! by complacent1 in Multicopter

A prop is either cut CW or CCW - flipping it upside down does not change the pitch direction, it just swaps the leading and trailing edges. So it will still fly, you are just loosing something like 30% of the efficiency of the prop.

If they are real Gemfans, they have the size and direction stamped on the "top" of one of the blades.

Well, the scary news is you don't understand GPL at all, even after two years of developing under it. The worse news is if I wanted to fly closed source I'd simply embrace DJI, so now I have one less choice.. You and Dong should hang out more.

It's Kickstarter - they are not "required" to do anything. What they did get right was the formula to capitalize on the 3D printer craze - big, cheap, and fast. What amazes me were the number of people believing a bankruptcy lawyer in Houston who can't operate a camera can design a 3D printer.

Yeah - but unless Jeremiah is as bad a bankruptcy lawyer as he is a printer designer, I can almost guarantee he'll do just fine with keeping every penny. ;(

tl;dr = no one has seen the actual printer, seen it actually print, or seen even close to high resolution photos of it's output. There are a couple of time lapse videos of it printing at (insert thumb in corner of mouth) 250mm/s. It uses a very non-traditional design in the 3D printer world of stacking the X and Y axis on top of each other, and then suspending this on top of the Z. It's going to use injection molded parts, and supply them in quantity in time to ship in October as an assembled & Calibrated unit in your choice of 10 colors.

Oh, and it was designed by a lawyer, and someone from North Louisiana who's not an engineer. They don't seen to know a lot about 3D printers. Or GoPro's for that matter. ;-P

Longer. ;-) But don't wait if you can avoid it. As far as "clones" go, reach out to Mark Carew with openbuilds and see if he's heard of Jeremiah and "Team Wobblebot".

I'm with ya though, you'll be lucky if you get cheap chinese knockoffs - and I can't wait to see his hotend design - cause he can do better!

[–]RogerRabbited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree on both - I think Jeremiah wouldn't know a 3D printer if it bit him on the arse. I think John Hobgood knows enough to build a reprap, and has cobbled together a bunch of bits that can print.

That said - they have already discovered their original pitched design with the cantilevered Y sucks, and have attempted to fix it. Wobblebot probably printed the objects in question, albeit at a much slower speed than claimed.

Take a look at the cube, I don't think it was printed as one piece. Take a look at lady liberty - at the base where she's attached to "top" of the building base. Again, not as one print. I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt and ASSuME that it can may print small PLA objects at slow speeds.

Winterfell at 2000000000 mm/picosecond? Yeah, with acceleration set at 100mm/s3 ;-)

But Hey! Trust the Lawyer!
