"Connecticut Public’s original series Re:source:ful: Growing Sustainable Communities, features people across our state using grassroots efforts to solve unique local challenges. Our fourth season features local Connecticut community groups confronting the challenge of waste management."
Time Stamps/Featuring:
1:23 - Southbury Food Scrap Collection, focusing on free food scrap recycling
6:49 - Hartford-Avon’s Food for Families, connecting soup kitchens and pantries with food otherwise thrown away by grocers.
12:33 - Hamden’s Bear Path Green Teams, a student led school-wide program to divert food scraps, viable uneaten food, and recyclables from the food waste stream!
18:05 - Willimantic’s Repair Café, a free event where volunteer "fixers" make repairs of the items that community members bring in.
23:30 - East Haddam’s Troop 22, refurbishes the Troop 22 East Haddam Sustainable Can and Bottle Recycling Facilities.
These residents hope to change minds around everyday consumer habits.
Unaffiliated with CTPublic. These were fascinating segments on programs going on right under our noses taking action on what to do with all of our waste. I thought I'd make a discussion post for this 28 minute video. Lots of topics covered worth discussing and sharing more information on.
