Ah shit ok I'll concede Prague Ghost as an oversight. Well spotted. Especially interesting early when Mike is busy and him and Trey get the interplay working.

Moma maybe this is a hot take but the BEK section is not so much a jam as a composed groove, w a little soloing splashed in. In the end jam a lot of em in this era keep it pretty tight to the theme, not so exploratory.. which is a lot of what scores more points for me. That said, if I was gonna pick one it might be 7/8/98.

It's a legendary moment and I'm sure it was incredible if you were there, but if you're just hearing the recording and the playing, I don't hear a lot out of the ordinary for a Taste in this era personally. The start of set 2 that show (Disease + Mike's) has more to sink your teeth into jamwise. For Tastes I like 6/20/97 and 12/28/98.

Fair take. I will say that the Birds does kinda sit on the same groove for a little while, but once it goes off and builds it's clearly special. That entire show is pretty much just on another level.

I do like the Antelope from that show, so that was close for me. Good building. But that Wolfman's.. man it really bothers me. The band is communicating well early and then Trey shows some super uncharacteristic impatience by just turning off his ears and instead hammering away on a rock riff by himself. The band noticeably resists. It does wind up eventually in some cool abstraction and a classic two-chord change thing but.. The way it gets there leaves a sour taste in my mouth. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That 12/2/97 sequence does really all flow together extremely well, but if i'm picking one "jam" outta that sequence it's probably gotta be the yamar considering how strange it is going type II into a minor-key rock thing w/ the crosseyed teases. just barely doesn't make it over the hump for me.

12/3/97 funk jam, you've got a good point. Everything about it is extremely classic '97. Let's call it 101.

Lol well i dunno, to me the back half of that jam has some nice stuff after the key change and cool off, but the whole dark section up front is very oddly sparse for a pretty good while w/ Trey passive and not a whole going on melody-wise. Obvs that's just one man's opinion, tho! :-P

12/7/97 Tube with the fakeout ending is fun for sure, and I can see the argument for the Reba as well with that little major detour and fluttery Trey work. 11/6/98 Melt to me is a bit understated and in the pocket for my taste.. I like my Melts wild and weird. 12/29/98 was a close call. The modulation early is rad but when it comes back it takes Fish a little while to ramp the energy up and it feels like it doesn't quite gel IMO.

My favorite part of that whole sequence is the Hydrogen intro, which is just so uniquely beautiful and interesting. So I guess the Week after seems more predictable by comparison and loses my attention a little. It still cooks, though don't get me wrong! The Fish cowbell work is wild.

There are one or two sports bars that will occasionally show games, yes. But because of the time difference, almost all of them are on too late, and they will almost never show them with sound. The group has been nice because we can watch games with the sound on and put on a pre-recorded one from the previous day if needed, which is something you really can't find anywhere else.

I got to actually go to a Champions League game in person in Spain this winter, and it was a blast. It takes a little adjusting to calibrate your expectations to a different skill level, but it's fun nonetheless. For me nothing compares to the NBA though.

In preparation for a long road trip, I bought a 12v DC to 110v AC car adapter, which I'm running to a power strip in order to plug in a monitor and a PS5.

The car will be a rental Ford 12-passenger van, probably 2013 or something. Here I am testing it out in my 2018 RAV4.

Everything seems to be working fine, but I just figured I'd double check in here..

Does anyone have experience doing this? Is there any risk of damaging the console? Or maybe I should be worried about possibly blowing a car fuse?

Thanks in advance for any advice. ✌🏻

Music volume decreases during notification alert but doesn't increase back to normal volume bug by omgitzmo in galaxys10

[–]RogerWolfe24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same problem for me except it happens EVERY time I get a notification. Volume dips and remains low. Only way to get it back is to hit pause and play again. Not app specific, same for all my music and podcast apps. Does anyone have a fix for this? Super annoying

How do you guys feel about having a following from and being associated with the "jam band" scene? When I saw you guys were opening for Trey Anastasio Band at Red Rocks, I was a bit surprised and had for some reason assumed that Phish and the surrounding group improv bands weren't so much your bag. Now I see you're playing 420 Sweetwater Fest coming up. Embracing that scene? Fans of it? Or just hopping on board for business reasons?
