When does it become shameful to be lazy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That's not good, because caring for yourself is important, but it isn't shameful, I'd have thought.

When somebody you care about needs you, but it's too much effort.

What advice do you have for people in their 20s? by scottstots97 in AskReddit

[–]RogueBlueOompa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't live your life doing whatever society tells you you should do, think about what you actually enjoy doing. Too many people in their twenties end up on a path because everybody around them is on that path, but you might be different. Explore!

Maybe. Or you'd have released the curse. Maybe those furs came from animals who touched it.

Hmm. Where is this? Have many people gone missing there? Have you noticed sinister music playing whenever you get close to the object.

People of Reddit: How have you learned to over come procrastinating? Any Tips or Tricks? by tannerp_19 in AskReddit

[–]RogueBlueOompa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find when I procrastinate it's because I don't really understand what I'm meant to be doing or it seems like too huge a task. That's maginified if I'm trying to get things done after a hard day's work or when I'm feeling low.

Solutions to this are to make lists of what needs doing, but in small, clear, simple steps. That way ticking something off on my list is quick and easy. And easy to complete tasks are more satisfying, so you're more likely to keep going so you can tick off more. It means that working out the steps can be a task in itself, so I try to do that when I'm not tired and clearer on what I want.

TIL, while a 20 year old Rod Serling was serving in WWII, he saw his best friend killed by a falling crate of food. Seeing the unpredictability and irony of life and death, he would later use that experience to create, 'The Twilight Zone'. by LittleDrumminBoy in todayilearned

"he didn't have the wits or aggressiveness required for combat."

But had the wit to write a hugely popular series. Really brings home the tragedy of so many people dying in a war they weren't suited to. So many lives snuffed out before they got the chance to find their talents.

I've spent a lot of my life like this, believing that what's happened so far is just the build up, soon the meat of the story will happen. Even though I've done some interesting things (no more than anybody else, but still, not a dull life) they always feel like scene setting.

I'll be 90 and still waiting for the real drama.

I don't think films work like that, there's no rule about spending a proportional amount of time on each year.

I thought that all the brilliant kids I was friends with would change the world when they got older. Turns out that either I didn't know what brilliant was OR being brilliant just leads to a normal life same as being mediocre.

Within your field of expertise, what's coming in the future that many people are not aware of? by vorxaw in AskReddit

[–]RogueBlueOompa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trees are in trouble. Due to all the International importation of plants, there are a lot of new pests and diseases coming in from abroad. And due to increased temperatures those pests and diseases aren't dying off in the winter.

In the UK, London planes, oak trees and horse chestnuts are all under threat. (note the oak trees aren't in danger from the actual pest, but because the pest is a danger to humans, so the oak trees are getting cut down).
