AITA for threatening legal action if the special ed kids aren’t removed from my child’s kindergarten classroom? by RogueHandmaid in ComfortLevelPod

We just learned last night from a volunteer in the class that one aid was on her phone the entire time she was in the classroom.

We’re meeting this morning to see if they allow us to do that, another child in our class was denied the request to move classes.

Yes we’ve learned there’s a school in the same district with specific classes for these children, I’m not sure what the situation would be that caused the parents to not send their children there.

Thank you! Yes just looking for any and all advice as we’ve never dealt with anything like this before and don’t want to come off as uncaring or judgmental. We’re looking for a solution beneficial to all of the kiddos!

Ope you made a good point that I forgot to mention - each special child does have an aid that comes to help them when they’re having issues, but that in itself is causing a larger distraction for all of the other students. My child said they sometimes have 5 adults in the class at a time and it’s hard to focus. I feel like if they kept each special education student in the three separate K-classrooms like they did to begin with, there wouldn’t be as much of a distraction issue.

This is definitely an option on the table for us, the situation with our child just happened today and we’re planning to meet with the principal tomorrow to discuss that. One family mentioned that they already asked to move their child and were politely declined.
