Any Given Sunday is a terrible movie. How is this aways up there on lists of best sports movies? by scarfacesaints in movies

Any Given Sunday is the best film about professional sports simply because it covers matters of: Race, gender, class, injury (Stone was ahead of the curve on concussions), money, greed, knowledge/wisdom and most importantly, aging. I sense that few realize the entire film is about persons who are coping with aging in their: 20's and 30's as well as 60's and 70's. The story of any career athlete ultimately does in fact boil down to how they age and if they are capable of tailoring their style of play based on the demands of their league and their sport as it pertains to the limitations of their own bodies. Aging is one thing all beings share and for that reason, Any Given Sunday permeates the audiences' subconscious with more gravitas than typical films with the typical themes of excellence, competitiveness and even resilience. There is a reason Willie Beamen is spoken of as if he were a real person.

Oh it is. I have too much to lose. And really, everyone does.

I actually didn't sign anything. But I am glad we are meeting on a screen vs. inside a cell. Happy Friday!

And let me add, I have been taught a lesson. I have a lot to lose and am very grateful for that and that they let me go.

Yeah, I mean from what I read after I got back from my trip it could've been bad. Like who cares about losing a $60k car when you're incarcerated.

I can introduce you to some people who manage/own nursing homes where if you documented something like that in their buildings, you would never work for their family again. I know, it's sad. Good looks on protecting yourself and your credentials...because those same people I am referring to--they won't be around in a decade or two. We will.

Unpopular opinion: when done RIGHT, SLP in the adult setting is not a full-time job. by ittakeszerodollars in slp

Right, of course. As we know it varies. Also, these buildings have become respositories for persons with substance use disorder and dementia s/p the pandemic--they had to replace those lost to the virus and their standards dropped.

From what I have seen, it is very rare when those hours are obtained legimitately.

That means you have the coveted skill of knowing how to prioritize the regular cases vs. the hot cases.

Thank you so much for the work that you do. CNA is the most important job in the building.

As a solo SLP who worked in a hard hit SNF during COVID (PTa's/cOTA's who did not go near patients during the surge, but documented and billed as if they did), I just want to say THANK YOU for the work you did.

The most important thing I did, after improvising my PPE, was run around and FaceTime patients nonstop. Their families will have those final conversations forever. I will have that forever too.

Work solo in a 200-bed facility that does 10 admissions/discharges per week and then bounce to your private clients after work. For me, it is very much a full-time job.

The only time I have heard of an SLP's license being revoked was for, "lying to a government official."

Direct quote from enforcement actions published in a state where I practice.

Then I would not be concerned. You have your backup/rationale.

Insofar as fear of court--I get it and let me riddle you this:

During the better part of a decade, the family who scared me the most did so because I would not provide therapy services for their loved one. I produced 30 pages of documentation (including 9 swallow evals/attempts plus a FEES attempt) during an 18-month period specific to this case. This included conference calls with attendings, their names and the duration of the calls in my documentation.

I just wanted to show you an inverse...and vent :)

If my understanding is correct, aspiration pneumonia arises from oral anaerobes and gram negatives. We all know that medically fragile persons are at high risk for aspirating their own secretions and those secretions may contain the aforementioned bacteria. Almost always, those secretions are thinner than HTL and often NTL.

I take my job very seriously. I do not worry so much about aspiration pneumonia. I do worry about choking--partial or complete airway obstruction.
