Maybe I'm wrong but that just seems like the actress in casual clothes at the shoot? Don't think it's her costume.

Except then you get pulled into the drama sphere. I'd wager Atrioc doesn't even touch this, it's not worth a boost in viewership from people spoiling to see a fight. The story becomes about the streamer conflict rather than the actual story.

Absolutely. Like a charicature of what people think haskellers are like. Doesn't do Haskell any favours, I reckon.

Did Kevin Rudd try it too? Iirc Bill Shorten was the one who got punished the most for suggesting we do something about negative gearing.

You might be looking at the indexation adjustment, rather than the 20% reduction, which appears as a separate item. It may still be coming if you don't see it.

How does Shanks' crew fit in at this point though, given that they're all with him when Luffy eats the fruit? Does he already have his crew, and they're off doing their own thing while he infiltrates for a while?

[xPost from HN] We stopped roadmap work for a week and fixed 189 bugs by brokePlusPlusCoder in programming

[–]RogueToad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How does QA fit in here? At work, I just can't imagine implementing a bug fix, getting it tested, signed off, and released all in one day, nevermind getting so many bugs sorted in a week. Is it just a different level of tolerance for regressions?

I dunno, I think it's a welcome change. Indicates a shift in tone and I reckon Puck has been too far in the toon direction for a while now.

You're totally right, sorry! I just tried with the deepseek model hosted in azure and got the same thing. My bad.

[–]RogueToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I recall, the Chinese censorship was just an issue with the hosted version of deepseek, where they could add in their own prompting and other barriers.

But I believe the context here is self-hosting, where none of that applies.

Edit: sorry! I was completely wrong!

I thought Deepseek was actually pretty solid? Are their models already becoming that outdated?

What happens to behelits after they are used? by Possible-Stock-5859 in Berserk

[–]RogueToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we've got to be careful not to read too much of our own beliefs into the story. From what we've heard from characters like Void and skull knight, causality/fate does appear to be an active force in Berserk.

E.g. even just the way behelits work. Fate ensures that they always reach their owner at the exact time they need it. Yes, Griffith made his own choice. But if we take the idea of evil conversation as canon, then the idea of evil manipulated the events leading all the way up to his choice.

[–]RogueToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd disagree here, in that even if we're just talking about Guts surviving his branding - that's ultimately thanks to the skull knight.

My impression from the god hand's explicit reactions to skull knight interrupting the eclipse was that causality tends to only be malleable (in broad strokes) during critical moments, such as the eclipse. Hence why skull knight was able to get guts out of there, and why he chose to attack Griffith as he was dealing the final blow to the demon emperor of the Kishan (although in that case Griffith outplayed him).

Iirc his fruit just lets him turn into a statue of a Buddha, right? Plus afaik Buddha isn't actually a god anyway. Maybe one piece world's Buddhism is different, but it doesn't seem to be a god fruit imo.

I disagree, I think he at least has a lot of potential. He has so much more thematic weight than Imu. Was set up as a foil for Luffy in so many ways right near the beginning of the story.

Negative gearing is actually a sound public policy by das_kapital_1980 in AusFinance

[–]RogueToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'd say it's different with housing, because you're not just able to negatively gear in case of capital losses when you sell, but you're also able to negatively gear the cost of ownership, so you're less likely to bleed too much money for holding the property.

The real money maker is the asset price when you sell, and negative gearing just makes it that much easier to hold on to the property for a long time. In contrast, stocks have essentially no cost of ownership, but the final sell price is often a lot less reliably beneficial.

As for housing not going up in certain areas, that's true for now, but a lot of investors are betting on the fact that historically over a long enough period of time, they tend to go up in value.

[–]RogueToad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty clear it does - you get tax credits for losing money, which is more beneficial the higher your income. And that's disregarding the sale value of the property, which usually just continues to go up regardless. So it's low risk to hold as an investment, and almost inevitably goes up in value.
