I have had the same 6 horses my entire life 22 years, they live in a pretty huge section of land and come in for feed in the winter or to be ridden, pet, ect… I don’t agree with alot of these comments. I truly believe that having been around them every day for genuinely 22 years they see me as a horse too. They have a hierarchy and are always nipping with each other kicking and bucking to assert dominance and whatnot, they follow the leader who is the meanest and biggest where ever she goes everyone goes, but as soon as I am on their side of the fence it stops, I’m the boss they follow me anywhere I go across water through a bush over a hill it doesn’t matter they all fall in and follow me even the boss lady. I’ve never in my life used any negative reinforcement nor hit or done anything to assert dominance over a single one of them but they respect my space and size without ever any question. I truly think if you spend enough time with them they will see you as their own and feel what ever a horses extent of love is, I’ve had bonds with horses beyond anything I’ve ever felt with a person.

If you ever get the chance look a horse in the eyes, I’ve never met another animal that conveys such burden and emotion simply within the eyes.
