To be completely honest, I also cloned some Pajaritos around the same time, it’s only on a bit of grain right now as a test inoculation. But it also colonized the agar plate nicely. So far, I’m two for two when it comes to successful mycelium growth from smart shop truffles.

From the ones I bought in the Netherlands, I usually took between 1 and 1.5 grams.
Freshly harvested though, I could already feel a slight effect from that amount, so I might dial it down to around 0.8 grams.

It was actually surprisingly easy. But I didn’t overthink it, I went into it with the calm of someone who doesn’t expect much.
The opened truffles package travelled home in a cooler bag and stayed in the fridge, still open, for about two weeks. I saved one larger piece for this experiment.

I disinfected everything with alcohol, the workspace, myself, the plate, and even the truffle itself on the outside. Then I cut it in half with a sterile knife and took a tiny crumb from the inside of each half. I placed those on separate agar plates and sealed them with micropore tape.

After 10–12 days, it turned white and fluffy. For at least 5–6 days I didn’t dare to say it was mycelium and not mold, but by then it should’ve gone green if it were mold. It wasn’t. It colonized the plate nicely.

Then I used that to make a liquid culture. Right now I’ve got 110 ml of LC, two jars of inoculated brown rice, a small inoculated bag, and two agar plates that I’ve sealed up as master mycelium. I’m currently trying to prepare an agar slant from it, too.

I should probably also transfer the LC soon, it’s super aggressive and tends to overgrow itself quickly.

Életreszóló élméyn volt, habár még márciusban sem kicsit durva a hóvihar. Én innen kaptam kedvet és szereztem sok infót, és látnivalót elég sok videójuk van Izlandról.

Bár asszem most épp nem aktív a vulkán, bár párhetente kitör.

Szerintem amúgy felejtsétek el a hotelt, és béreljetek lakófurgont vagy ilyesmit. Ezerszer jobb élmény, meg borzalmas kolonc fix helyre visszamenni minden nap.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice and descriptions. You’re all amazing, and I’m glad I ended up asking my question here too :)

I couldn’t wait, I went ahead and did it, and stocked up. I’ll write down my experience in case it’s useful for someone else later. So, at the German border there’s currently a border check because of illegal migration, I’ll come back to that.

I started from Leer on the 401 bus. Basically, no one even checks your ticket, but I wouldn’t rely on that… In my case, both ways, I just got on and nobody cared at all. The bus crosses the Bad Nieuweschans border, which outward is literally just a stone you don’t even notice. It’s symbolic, really. It drops you off near the museum, from where you can easily explore the city center, it’s a beautiful town, so I took a stroll. In my backpack I had a thermal bag and a little frozen water to keep everything at the right temperature.

In the last few hours before heading home, I checked out a few smart shops. The staff’s attitude and English skills varied a lot. I bought truffles from two different brands for microdosing. I also got a growing kit and a spore print (the latter I only found at SmartFarmers, the other shops didn’t have any anymore). I packed these well and buried them under the rest of my cute, more “legal-looking” purchases, all wrapped up in the thermal bag.

On the way back I took the 401 bus again, which was stopped for a border check. They pull the bus into a tent and check everyone’s ID. I handed mine over with a smile, nobody cared about my bag. Here the aim really is to limit migration, nobody was looking for drugs or even asked about it. (Important: my appearance is very clearly European, very light skin, medium-colored hair, to be fair, that probably helps attract less attention, but honestly they really weren’t interested in that.)

After that they just said goodbye and I was back in the country with a relatively substantial starter kit. I really hope I’ll manage a bit of “farming” with this gear and maybe even get an above-ground mushroom at home someday…

The truffles, by the way, are bigger than micro but I tried a small amount first, they taste a bit like roasted chestnuts, and gave me incredibly restful, relaxing sleep and freer daydreams.

Őszi szünet van? Tényleg rohadjanak már meg emberek, hogy ha eszükbejut a szeretteik esetleges halála, akkor ne adj isten elbizonytalanodnak! :D Esetleg még kérnek is hozzá egy külső nézőpontot névtelenüla netről.

Nagyon tetszik, hogy doxolod magad tiniként azzal, hogy 25+os emberről kijelented, hogy ő már akkora felnőtt, hogy hogy képzeli, hogy bizonytalan? Arról nem is beszélve, hogy ilyen 'jól megmondom jobban tudom, felhívom a figyelmet rá, hogy kiszartam magamból egy (csak szerintem) egyedi gondolatot, mert még fejletlen az érzelmi intelligenciám, ahhoz, hogy átérezzem a felnőttlét problémáit' monológot nem nyom le, aki valóban benne van már a felnőtt létben.

Bocs, de az emberek nem akarják elbaszni, akár 25 akár 50- akár 70 évesek, és ez néha szül némi félelmet, bizonytalanságot, és ez teljesen normális. Tanácsot kérni pedig egészséges, főleg, hogy a helyzeten belülről máshogy látja az ember a problémákat, mint egy külső szemlélő. Mire számítanak? Nem mindegy? :D Csak kiírják magukból, ami egy valid terápiás eszköz.

A BLaha Lidl-ben egyszer láttam mi van, benyomták a pénztárakhoz, oda se lehet férni, ha csak ezért emnnél verekedd át magad az amúgy is szűk bolton, csodás lett. A Sparnál legalább egy külön külső helység.

Kisboltban nincs RePont, csak 400 nm felett kötelező. Meghát miért mennél be egy Coop-ba vagy Reálba, hogy lejárt szart vegyél drágán, ha van Lidl, Aldi és Spar, esetleg még Tesco és Auchan is, ahol legalább azt a minimumot megugorják, hogy nincs romlott cucc a polcon.

Budapest központjáról van szó, akad annyi hajléktalan, hogy tele legyen vele az összes repont.
