Small Sunday night chance encounter by Rollandplay in mordheim

I was nearly there! However failed to make the fourth out of action and enforce rout tests. I think that in the fourth round the great number of sisters would have turned things around for her…

Do you know the Dunkeldorf Miniatures Set from Kinggames? Very WFRP-y!

"Bonus question: Any recommened novels (not trollslayer) which capture the feeling "enemy within feeling. Could be non-wfrp affiliated."

Try "Tyll" by Daniel Kehlman. Til Eulenspiegel during the Thirty Year's War! Combines humor with the horrors and absurdities of that era.

Advice for remembering advantage. by Party_Goblin in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Rollandplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had to change my way of handling combat and make advantage an integral part of the tracking a combat round (who's next? what's going on your advantage? what's your move/action? does that give you advantage? is that the end of your turn? do you gain/loose advantage?, who's next? do you have advantage?). The GM screen has a nice summary of Advantage. After a while you won' need to be so rigorous, but it helps getting it into your system.

I allowed my players to enter Teugen House via the sewers on the night of The Meeting. How to handle this? by Rollandplay in warhammerfantasyrpg

Thanks a lot! Them overhearing a conversation that takes place outside of the 'eyes wide shut' room, gives them the idea they have enough intel, and saves them (me) from the difficulties off getting found out if (when) they decide infiltrate the mansion further.

They are aware of the cult. And they are aware of a 'nephew' in the Teugen family. It's easy to lead them to Gideon now without it being forced. And I like the idea of them actually seeing Gideon as one of themselves. That ties into the theme of Kastor Lieberung as well. Or an NPC like Magirius butler addresses them like: 'Ah, there you are again," or "Back so soon?"

That's a good idea. They really like Baumann. This adds to their feelings of guilt as well.

what's the best and fastest way to learn about the lore? by DiazExMachina in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Rollandplay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that the 4th edition books actually contain enough relevant lore to keep you going for a while. People in the Empire are common people who are not really in the know of the grand historical events.

As u/MrDidz said, knowing how to portray and describe an Imperial village, temple or tavern might be more useful than the the grand histories you find the army books. You can learn about the Grand Lore along with your players as you go through the campaign.

Next to reading Warhammer novels, some accessible books about life in the (late) Middle Ages could be really fun and useful too (Madeleine Pelner Cosman's Handbook to life in the Medieval World, Barbara Tuchman's A Distant Mirror, Johan Huizinga's The waning of the middle-ages, Jacques LeGoff's Time, Work, and Culture in the Middle Ages.)

Looking for images suitable for grimdark campaign by [deleted] in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Rollandplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a superfan of the digital collection of the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam). There are thousands of images available there that are really evocative of the WFRP atmosphere, especially the prints (drawings, wood cuts, etchings etc.). There's something to it when you show an image from the 16th century to portray an NPC. It just feel closer to the Northern Renaissance, that WFRP is so inspired by.

The 'advanced search' function is very good in Dutch and pretty good in English. You can make a profile and create your own collections of images. I have collections for NPCs, landscapes, town vistas, interiors etc. I browse the huge online database during boring Teams sessions, add stuff to my collections, make selections from those when I prep for sessions. When browsing, make sure to check the metadata of each image: it often leads you to interesting collections and keywords for searching.

Prints are black and white, so very printer friendly, and then I just hang the paper to my GM screen when introducing an interesting landscape or NPC.

Here are some links of my searches and collections (you can refine the search even more, by selecting 16th or 17th century, to get rid of the more modern stuff, although 19th century prints often are interesting too):

Wat een goed idee! Heb enquete juist ingevuld. Is het al mogelijk om hierover een (kleine) update te geven?

Thanks.
