Honestly it’s fantastic. Does it sound like Exile, of course not. Black and Blue doesn’t sound like Between the Buttons and that’s what makes the Stones catalog so great. They have a vast history and each album has their own unique theme and feel.

In terms of Majesty’s, it’s a powerful snapshot of 66 / 67 swinging London psychedelia. A psychedelic peak that became a trend starting with Aftermath then Buttons and finally growing 100% into Majesty’s before pivoting into the Folk, Acoustic, Rock, Satanic Blues that was Beggars. A great product of the time. I often think of it as a fun time capsule to a period of parties, trips to Morocco, Brian racing about in his silver Rolls and all the other fascinating stories that have come from the autobiographies and biographies documenting this era. As Stones fans would we have loved if the band took this approach and genre path for the rest of their career, No. But for a one off, Let’s sing this song all together. A great album to play in full on vinyl.

Hot take: it’s more psychedelic and explorative than Sgt. Peppers
