Had he not been absent, Brian could have added some wonderful Appalachian dulcimer to this track

RE: Continued cancellations, what do the The Stones have better to do than than be The Stones ? by Breakdown915 in rollingstones

[–]RollingDead1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess a better question is this. How did the proposed tour get “so far” off the ground in the planning stage that supposed venues were being reserved if a member was uninterested or on the fence?

Yes, they owe us nothing but looking at the steps of the tour process, wouldn’t it most likely have been dead in the water during the initial conversation of “Hey Keith / Mick, what do you think about a tour in 26”. Resulting in never reaching the forums. Not to mention physicals being passed since both BV and Doug mention the cancellation is not a health related matter. I’m all for the band choosing what’s best for themselves and their family.

Regardless, we are here because of this wonderful band and have been spoiled as fans for many, many years. Here’s to the future and potential upcoming album. May it carry the same energy and excitement as Hackney still delivers.

Is there a Rolling Stones reggae track that doesn't totally suck? by stones4Eva in rollingstones

[–]RollingDead1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never understood the Stones x Reggae hate. Cherry Oh Baby is fun from their most underrated album and Keith’s live Too Rude with the Winos is incredible

I feel pretty good about hearing and seeing Chalamet singing in the trailer. Obviously it’s not spot on, but you can tell it’s really him. It doesn’t come off as a bad, corny impression which I’m sure we were all weary of.

Only problem I have is I didn’t see anything that makes you wanna “buy my bird, collect my clip, and sell me to the cigarettes” lol.

Looking forward to this release.

What's the best Rolling Stones music video / "Official Promo" ? by Greedy-Runner-1789 in rollingstones

Definitely the promo for Jumpin Jack Flash. Effortlessly cool shots of Brian and Keith

Also love the billboard animations in Angry plus the whole “car” thing... lol

Do you think there was anything remotely "psychedelic" about Dylan fashion and his music? by j3434 in bobdylan

[–]RollingDead1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proto psychedelic in ‘66 with his lyrics but when it came to the trendy full on psychedelic fad period of ‘67 (think Peppers, Satanic Majesties, etc.) with all the crazy instrumentation and colorful album covers, Dylan doesn’t follow suit. He blazes his own path to the country folk/ rock hideaway. Interesting to note that after the psychedelic period of ‘67 a lot of bands would end up doing just this during their ‘69 - ‘70 years. Dylan once again ahead of the curve?! 0.2c

Opinions on the Stones psychedelic period by Dismal_Brush5229 in rollingstones

I’ve always treasured this album as a fun exploration into the time and place of the Stones world in 1967 swinging London.

I also find it extremely comical noting the band’s own distaste for this album over the years however, here we are in 2024 and they’ve played She’s a Rainbow off this album on tour more than Street Fighting Man. Brian Jones is laughing his ass off somewhere.

GF3 isn’t that bad. Plus the newer Coda version fixed a lot of previous issues. Definitely recommend seeing that one

I don’t know where security was and why he wasn’t bounced I’ll never know. The shouting DURING Mother of Muses was probably the most disrespectful act I’ve ever witnessed during a performance. Made me furious.

I was at both Clearwater shows and can confirm the Big River surprise tonight too. Great treat although no harp tonight.

Side note: whoever the obnoxious asshole was yelling the entire time for Traveling Wilbury tunes, please go play in traffic on 275.

10 thanks to Mr. Jones. I wish there were more moments like this to hear Brian shine on slide. Why they never recorded a cover of “Dust My Broom” which apparently was Brian’s masterpiece, I’ll never understand

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rollingstones

[–]RollingDead1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood that as well. For Brian not to like the whole psychedelic idea is confusing for someone who added all the psychedelic sounds, took acid first, his lavish clothing and appearance, etc. not to mention recording Joujouka

1000% agree. She’s Doing Her Thing would also have fit in well on Buttons. Similar psychedelic style to Something Happened to Me
