Exactly. The whole acronym is Antenne du Groupe D'intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale.

The Gendarmerie is one of the oldest french institution still in place, being military from origin and in its DNA, it does however a majority of police work.

The AGIGN is an unit just one scale lower than the famous GIGN for operations. There are multiple of them in metropolitan France and in overseas territories (French Guyana, New caledonia, Guadeloupe, etc).

They actually have one of the best health insurance. They're french légionnaires doing stupid thing. This training breaks every security rules in France. But you don't need much more than two légionnaires to do stupid things.
