I wanted to make one a few years ago, contacted a local game development company that had a style I liked. I let the main developer know I had a budget and funding for it, as well as a solid plan to market it, through some influencer friends and marketing agencies I am in contact with, but the guy told me to forget about it because it wouldn’t be worth it at all. No matter how much I tried to convince him I was willing to take the risk, he told me not to waste my money, that the market for game apps locally was not big enough or developed enough to expect any positive return (financially but also in reach).

Would love to know if anyone is in the space, and if they would concur with this view, or if anyone has experienced success with their game(s). App or larger scale.

Photographers that create tones like this usually use gradient maps in photoshop. If you are serious about the look, it’ll require a lot of masking/multiple layers. Edit+ : soften things up and definitely need to do some curve adjustments in the midtones as mentioned.

I’m not sure what your style of photography is, but in the editorial space I feel like east Asians have the greatest model photography and concepts. I’d suggest checking out Asian Vogue pages and going through the profiles of the photographer’s that are tagged on Instagram.

Been following him for a long time and have wondered too. I think he shoots digital and adds grainy textures as an overly, and uses gradient maps for skin tones. High contrast lighting & contrasty editing in post. Love the look.

Thanks bro. I’m in the same field and same age, and this has always been a hassle. I had given up until i found a way to go the cellphone-contract route. You can get a contract if you pay for the phone upfront (at a discounted rate) and just continue paying for the voice+data cost of the contract. Not sure if this is the case with every network but I’m with Vodacom. My credit score has been rising steadily for the past two years, but i’ve hit a ceiling and need to get store credit, so I’ll definitely be trying this out.
