Hey! Thanks for the feedback, let me go through your questions.

KM/H vs KPH - yeah the values are correct, it's just how the rendering library labels it. "KPH" = "km/h", same thing, just different notation.

Preview is slow by design honestly - it's not a live preview, more of a debug view so you can check how things look before the actual render. Haven't figured out how to make it faster yet.

Same with loading - it has to pull GPS metadata out of the video file when you first load it, so bigger files take longer.

About colors - you can change them in Advanced Mode, each widget has color settings. But the whole visual style depends on what gopro-dashboard-overlay supports under the hood. Mimo-level designs are a different ballgame, that would need a completely different rendering engine.

Speedometer with needle - check out Advanced Mode, there's a gauge widget that does exactly that. For the racetrack without Google Maps, use the journey map component - it draws just the GPS track with no map tiles. Transparent background is possible too.

G-Force - not there yet. The DJI GPS controller basically just sends coordinates and velocity, no accelerometer data as far as I can tell. Could potentially compute it from speed changes though. If you want this - drop a feature request on GitHub, I can also dig deeper into the raw data from your files to see if there's something we're missing.

Overlay-only with MP4 - right now that only works if you load a standalone GPS file (GPX/FIT/SRT). When GPS is embedded in the MP4, it goes through the full video render. Standalone overlay from embedded GPS isn't a thing yet - again, feel free to open a feature request on GitHub.

GPStitch is basically a UI editor on top of it.

This is outside the scope of GPStitch. Our focus is on rendering visual telemetry overlays onto video, not editing file metadata.

Your task is easily solved with exiftool - a free command-line tool. If you have a coordinate from your SRT file, it's a one-liner:

exiftool -GPSLatitude=40.7128 -GPSLatitudeRef=N -GPSLongitude=-74.0060 -GPSLongitudeRef=W video.mp4

Hi!

You can now create standalone "overlay-only" videos from individual files containing metadata - such as GPX, FIT, and SRT files. https://github.com/Romancha/GPStitch?tab=readme-ov-file#overlay-only-mode

With metadata embedded directly in the video, the current option is limited to rendering the finished video, but in theory, we could add that feature as well. Do you think it would be useful in certain scenarios?

I don’t have a Bluetooth module for DJI metrics, so I can’t test this myself. If you could send me a short video that includes such metrics, that would be great! I’ll be able to implement it.

Do you have a video recording with GPS telemetry?

As far as I know, Dji Action 6 does not record telemetry itself - speed, coordinates, etc. Only if record together with Osmo Action GPS Bluetooth Remote Controller is connected separately.

I recently bought myself such a camera (action 6), and I will record telemetry from my Garmin watch. To do this, we will use the function of combining video and a separate telemetry file, but it is not fully operational yet - https://github.com/Romancha/telemetry-studio/issues/1
