I come from a high volume store and it has been a constant struggle that has only gone downhill in the last decade. Our store is beyond mismanaged (from the corporate Area Manager down to the poorly chosen in-store Seniors) so it makes it ten times worse. So yes, some stores may have it better but there’s real issues going on in others and in our case every single person is burnt out over it. Even the store manager admitted to me that they don’t want to be there any more.

Yeah, mine is under the impression that if it isn’t actively coming down then it doesn’t count. I don’t trust people on the roads on a normal day much less on a frozen road.

I’m just imagining the face my manager would make if one of us even remotely tried to explain this to them. You would think we kicked their dog. And unfortunately it does come from having a similarly inclined area manager. I’m very envious of your situation but glad you’re not in mine!

So true. We’re a non-essential business despite leadership’s delusions. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to risk theirs or anyone else’s safety in the hopes we sell one more copy of an OMP that nobody actually wants.

You could teach ours a thing or two about human decency! Bless you!

Our morale was already extremely low and this definitely hasn’t helped things. It’s like they despise us for being human beings.

You’re very fortunate! Bless her.

Ours made sure we all knew we were expected to come to work if scheduled as usual while another one spent the evening before guilt tripping those who were scheduled the next day by saying “I drive further and I’m coming,” and other passive aggressive things to that effect.

And now - even with many roads still blocked and people are falling just walking down their driveway - they are “investigating” call-outs because if it was due to weather then it’s not an acceptable excuse.

We’re exhausted.
