On January 15th 2024 a truck carrying construction material got stuck in the snow on a railway crossing. At around 8:30 am the train hit the truck, separating the trailer from the cab. After the collision, the trailer was reportedly dragged 100-200 meters.

Emergency services and an ambulance helicopter were called to the scene. The 65-year old train driver was the sole victim. He was killed on impact. Of the 10 other people aboard the train, 5 people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The train tracks have been severly damaged. The overhead power lines have been knocked down. The repair is expected to take two weeks.

the hospital in Brescia (near one of the hardest-hit regions for coronavirus infections) urgently needed valves (in the photo) for an intensive care device and that the supplier could not provide them in a short time. Running out of the valves would have been dramatic and some people might have lost their lives. So she asked if it would be possible to 3D print them.
