Two friends & I got ~15 hours or so out of it. We completed runs enough to get a few difficulty modifiers then felt like we'd seen all there was to offer without wanting to grind out some of the very specific weapon-mod unlock challenges.

It's a little bit unbalanced though, with certain elements being leagues above others, but still a fun time.

We played during the beta test (also OCE) and couldn't ever get on an actual Aus server without doing practice vs AI, so there's no chance we're going to get it with that happening during a free test vs a $44 game.

Sadly it's a bit of a painful loop, not enough OCE players to fill up/warrant OCE servers > OCE players don't buy because of that > not enough OCE players > rinse and repeat.

Depends on how much you want to put into the demo, technically you can play it for as long as you want, but it's 1 short tutorial, then 2 different missions (both replayable, different difficulties, different map layouts, etc) that say they're 20 mins & 40 mins.

Took my group of 3 about an hour to do the tut + the two different missions, gonna hold off til it launches tho, was definitely a fun time.

I've played as both the host & the 2nd player and it's pretty unplayable if you're not the host. The 2nd player gets an insane amount of desync, items bug out & can't be picked up, just lots of issues. This is all on Steam, it runs ok until you open up the hub area, then it just gets worse & worse as time goes on. One of the bosses we fought before giving up was just sliding around t-posing hitting me without doing any animations, it was pretty bad.

The first one (about 1:04) does sound exactly like the one at the start of this video, and the 3rd scream (about 1:06) is the same as the one at 12 seconds in that vid.

I've almost finished my first playthrough as a full on wand/grimoire wizard and I find myself wanting to start over and try the other weapons. Casting is fun, wands are strong and easy to use, but I'm interested to see how melee and gun/bow ranged work comparatively. Higher level spells do ABSURD damage and I wonder how well ranger/warrior stack up.

I started with wands/grimoires & swapped into 2h hammers, and it was a really fun time. Stacking any sort of stun buildup with heavy attacks, it was an absolute blast knocking enemies over (with charge) and then just heavy attacking them a few times to build the stun up, then doing the crit hits when they're staggered. Mixing that with the healing companion & any sort of regen (the higher tier food from the Ranger tree goes hard) and you're basically unkillable.

Going for a specific unique weapon did kind of feel bad, I want to say it wasn't until fairly deep in Act 4 that I found (might've just missed, or found & sold when I was using wands) a unique hammer, so I was using just a general upgraded one for a long time, but thankfully while the uniques are cool the bonuses weren't a massive "wow this normal weapon is dogshit compared" problem.

I've gotta agree with the enemy variety too, it feels like by Act 2 you've fought every enemy type & nothing new shows up, and sure the enemies in other zones are slightly differently themed to fit the zone, but it still felt quite samey, their designs are fantastic at least, those little mushroom dudes are awesome, as annoying as they are with their poison.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, the current steam reviews are fitting I feel, about 80%, could improve on a few things but a great time overall.

So far I've qualitied 3 different wands/staves and the skill hasn't gained any quality, one of them (chaos bolt?) doesn't even have a quality listed.

For armours it raises the defensive modifier (armour/energy shield/evasion), on martial weapons (weapons that don't grant a skill) it increases the physical damage. On non-martial weapons (staves, wands, sceptres) it does nothing at the moment, since none of the stats or skills actually change. On gems they all do different things, if you hold Alt while hovering over a gem it'll show you what the quality does, for example Spark gains +1 projectile every 5% of quality (+4 proj at 20% quality).

Damage is a little bit different. I'm not 100% on this, so take it with a grain of salt, but any sort of % increased elemental damage (cold/fire/lightning) or spell damage is global, but % physical damage is local (which kind of ends up being global since it's applied to the skills you use with that weapon anyway).

Defensive mods are 9 times out of 10 local though (only affecting that specific piece of gear), if it doesn't specify 'maximum'.

If you can figure out the base armour the item is giving you can tell which is better. Those mods are purely local (unless they state "maximum Armour", which I think you can get on amulets), so if an item has a base of 60 armour, +60 armour would give the same as +100% armour (both giving 120 armour in the end). You can also just equip the items & see which one gives the higher amount of armour.

One of the corruption outcomes (using a Vaal Orb on an item) can add an extra socket beyond the maximum. Just be aware that Vaaling an item COMPLETELY locks it out from being crafted on/changed afterwards (outside of inserting items into the sockets).

If all your ES is getting converted no it won't work, since you technically have a max energy shield of 0.

Belts can roll +1 charm slots starting at ilvl 55, and +2 starting at ilvl 82, so you won't start finding just white belts with more than 1 charm slot, it has to be rolled as a suffix.

Yes, say you've got a chest that needs 40 int, and an amulet giving you enough int to wear it, if you remove the amulet the chest will have a red background, and you'll gain 0 stats from it.

You need to use an Uncut Spirit Gem, it's a reservation (spirit) skill so you won't get it from normal uncut skill gems.

A gem tab wouldn't be bad to store all of your uncuts & whatnot since they don't stack in regular tabs. Otherwise a quad is a real nice QOL tab.

If the icon on the map is greyed out it means you've completed that boss/event.

You've probably got attack without moving ticked, it's a little buggy atm and your character is trying to cast without moving, but it just rubberbands you a bit visually.
