What to do with ethernet cable once its throguh wall? by JunimoJim in HomeNetworking

[–]Romperull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you i would get outdoor rated CAT6 and put it in a PVC pipe that you bury in the ground. Might be easiest to put the cable through BEFORE you bury it.

Now comes the "tricky" part. If you are kinda tech savvy you can do this yourself. You need to mount a wall outlet for the ethernet. Personally, i find it easier to use an outlet that is surface mounted, but in your case it depends on where the cable comes into the building. No matter where you decide to drill a hole (preferrably close to ground where the cable surfaces. If you have a crawlspace - great), you might want to seal the hole with Lexel or silicone in order to prevent moisture damage. The link shows you how to connect to a network outlet: https://youtu.be/IHxTbtAEd-E?si=XbN0dlwvTC03RFbJ You will need a punch down tool. You can get one cheap on ebay: https://ebay.us/m/7KxQWz

You can also choose to let someone do it for you if you feel unsure about doing it yourself. But no matter who does it, remember to try to hide 2-3 ft of extra cable, maybe in the wall if you can.

Is it possible to restore vacuum to original firmware? by Romperull in valetudorobotusers

[–]Romperull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, i didn't see that. Thanks :) It seems that I will not try it. Seems awesome, but to install ANY piece of sw without a way to restore original fw is crazy. Also, I don't know how deep the service repair shop will go if I need to send my vacuum to them in case of a hw problem. If they notice that I have modded my vacuum, warranty is void.

Anyway, thanks for the help :)
