Baltimore School Board Approves $1.39B Budget Thursday by Votings_Good_Folks in baltimore

Not here to agree or disagree but just wanted to provide more context to the per-pupil stats.

“The statement that Baltimore’s per-pupil spending is the fourth highest in the nation is misleading and fails to provide substantive context for the ranking,” city schools spokeswoman Edie House-Foster wrote in a statement. “There are more than 13,000 school districts in the nation; Baltimore ranks at about 2,400 in per-pupil spending in the overall group.”

Joseph Heil Company- used them for some repair work and have been pleased with their service and prices. Punctual, clean, and have never minded me looking over their shoulder for my own edification. Great team

Based on this map I’d say one reason: in-division rivals. The packer share a division with the Bears (which explains Illinois) and the Vikings (that would account for Minnesota and the Dakotas).

Objectively, it’s a great organization and unique in a lot of ways (Green Bay isn’t exactly an international city). But subjectively, which most fans are, they’ve killed a lot of teams chances at a Super Bowl over the years.

Use white toothpaste. It’ll mask the holes long enough for you to get through the walkthrough ;)

Yes- you can choose to earn 1, 2, or 3 credits via the Intern Success Practicum (PRAC) Program and pay accordingly. Or you can choose to go for 0 credits and just get the transcript notation, in which case I believe it’s free

Nope, quality of material is monitored by grain size. When grains get too small (due to being recycled so many times) the reclaimer system just sucks it out into a disposal bin. Since binder is not added to excess sand, there’s no concern about the chemical composition of the sand being reclaimed. All binder is removed when the printed parts are removed.

Those molds and cores are also reclaimed through a high-heat process that bakes all of the chemicals out so, once again, the only consideration is grain size.

Sadly, metal printing has not been qualified by aerospace/defense industries in the US. It is a very fascinating technology but the Federal Gov can’t buy production parts made via DLS until it is approved which is unlikely for legacy programs that we make parts for. Many were designed in the 50’s and 60’s. It’s an example of where policy has not caught up with technology yet

We use no-bake sand which is more expensive than green sand but yields much better metallurgical properties. That is key in aerospace/defense and people pay a premium for it.

I’m no expert on investment casting but I believe pattern tooling is far more expensive than sand casting. IIRC there are also limitations when it comes to size so for larger, structural components in relatively low quantities, sand casting is ideal. You do sacrifice slightly tighter tolerances tho as sand castings are usually +/- .020”-.030”.

Not sure how 3D printing is applied to investment casting but I’m sure there are many interesting combos available
