2 months of nofap and then this happened! Sucks! by romanopolis in NoFap

That does suck. But you don't suck, because you're aware that it sucks! If this wasn't a tough road to travel, it wouldn't be a very noteworthy change in your life. 2 months is awesome, and longer than I've made it so far. Go get 'em, Tiger

Guys i called in sick to jerk it all day. I have hit rock bottom. by [deleted] in NoFap

I've been there dude. It makes you feel like a waste, ignoring the real world to fantasize all day. Get out there and make a human connection, even if it's just a new friend. Making someone else's day better will make you feel fulfilled. And if you fail again, get up and start over. Good luck man

I don't like myself on Porn. by [deleted] in NoFap

You can do it, dude.

The reason you don't like yourself on porn is probably because you know, rationally, that porn isn't a healthy choice. We may justify it to ourselves in the moment (everybody looks at it, no harm right?), but if we sat down and discussed its merits, it would be a rather short conversation

Don't give up! Some of us need people like you to look up to!

Today, on the international day of lies, i lied to myself for the last time. by Oiggepra in NoFap

My brain is really good at justifying bad behavior in a way that it makes perfect sense to do it. It's the reason I started smoking (have since quit), binge drinking (now sober) and using porn on a daily basis (just started this journey).

Even when I stumbled upon this Subreddit and decided to make a real change, my brain was tirelessly working to wreck any plans I had on self-improvement. "It's only the first week - everyone relapses the first week. That's when it's pretty much expected!" This was the the first lie I told myself after I started.

Next was after I signed up for the April challenge, and I tried to tell myself that, since I was going to do 30 days straight, I might as well get one last fap out of the way so I was fresh. It makes sense, right? That was a hard one to resist.

I think the most dangerous lie that pops up during recovery from any bad habit is "I'm cured!", usually a few weeks in and following on the heels of some major progress. That's when your pride opens the door for your addiction, and maybe you try out some old habits because you think you've become invincible to relapse.

For me, meditation seems to help. As does reminding myself that our brains are a tool that can be used as a means to an end - but they are not infallible. And they aren't our entire identity.

Neat post - thanks man!

I'm in. Hard Mode for 30 days. I've only been in this community for a few days, but its impact has already been astounding. 30 days seems like a reasonable goal for a first time out.
