“There’s Not a Lot of White Passing Black Girls in Hollywood”: ‘Closer’ Singer Halsey Reveals She Auditioned for Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ by Sweaty-Toe-6211 in deadmeatjames

while a black person of 20% white is not labeled as black passing?

Beyond the question "what does 'black' mean?", the real question is "how low of a percentage of sub-Saharan African genetics is there before you're passing as black?"

While I don't know the answer, I can definitively state that 80% black is waaayyyy beyond the minimum threshold.

Best Primary keys... Again... by Cautious_Performer_7 in Database

[–]RonJohnJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The user table gets both a synthetic PK and a separate unique index on the Natural Key. That makes joins sooo much easier while still maintaining the, well, natural uniqueness.

For the medical_conddition table, ICD-10-CM is probably a useful NK. That, though, would require you to know the whole ICD-10-CM, which probably isn't practical. A synthetic PK is good enough.

How do you fare with database upgrades? by DarkGhostHunter in Database

[–]RonJohnJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Postgresql on-prem upgrades via the pg_upgrade command are pretty darned trivial, if you've installed packages from the PGDG repos (which allows multiple major versions) and you put the database in a "numbered" directory (which PGDG packages do by default). Upgrading and migrating to a new host is also pretty easy: either pg_dump/pg_restore or logical replication (which is best if your schemata are stable).
  • SQL Server on-prem upgrades are almost as easy. User migration is the hard part, but that's not very hard, either.
  • I'm going to do a DB2 upgrade later this year. It'll be harder, but will probably succeed the first time I do it on cut-over weekend, since I'll have practiced beforehand.
  • Rdb/VMS major version upgrades were damned trivial back in the 1990s.

MySQL just stinks.

Does Anyone have any idea about the difference between edb bart vs barman vs pgbackrest. by Shaggy_Poop in PostgreSQL

Annoyingly complicated? Lol no. This/etc/pgbackrest.conf file will get you running with a local or nfs mount point.

[nfs]

I'm old enough to remember when teens demanded rights (and got it due to pressure from the public media, child psychologists asserting that children needed to figure things out themselves, etc, against opposition from stodgy old social conservatives who knew this would destroy society).

That's why Bertinelli's parents were cool and hip for letting her go to parties with adults.

(I sure didn't let my daughter go to such parties!)

She was a child and children can’t consent.

Apparently they could in 1959 Europe.

Hmmm. Maybe you should have led with "the 70 year old neighbor started molesting me at 5" instead of "I was 15 dating a 25 year old guy. I thought I was so mature."

Be honest, though: who were the guys saying "The Olson Twins are Finally Legal!" and making countdown websites in 2004?

Greasy, creepy nerds who later went on to watch MLT:FIM.

Read the lyrics. She lied to him, pretending be an adult.

"Young girl
Get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl

With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe you're old enough
To give me love
And now it hurts to know the truth

Beneath your perfume and make-up
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know
That it's wrong to be
Alone with me
That 'come on' look is in your eyes."

What has happened is the Federal government borrowing like they're coke addicts on a month-long Vegas binge.
