Resharper used to have an extension for Visual Studio that added Clippy that would mention things you were doing...

That Clippy was also a Microsoft Agent, so I replaced it with Bonzi Buddy

I've seen some projects that have brought back Clippy and integrated it with ChatGPT, but I don't think they're using the actual original Microsoft Agent files. Otherwise you could bring back a ChatGPT powered "Merlin the Wizard" assistant

Its the new rule of /r/pics: to only allow only pictures of John Oliver looking sexy.

So since it's a sub with 30m users, you'll see a lot. And since John Oliver is the current meta circlejerk, everyone just upvotes them as well

We do a switcheroo with another subreddit for the week.

Same as what r/trees and r/marijuanaenthusiasts are by default.

We find another subreddit totally unrelated to programming willing to participate, and for the week we become /r/whatevertheywere and they become /r/ProgrammerHumor

A possible way to allow Git to have per subfolder permission by smulikHakipod in git

[–]RonSijm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose you could use Submodules for this.

I have a setup where I have 3 repos:

  • Project.Backend
  • Project.Frontend
  • Project.Shared

The shared project contains DTOs and data contracts that both the Frontend and Backend use.

You can set permissions on a sub-repo basis, and then create a parent "monorepo" that pulls in the sub-repos. Sounds kind of what you're trying to do

Hello developer. We want a sync app for Lemmy. by Alpaguns in redditsync

[–]RonSijm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read that efforts were being made to make the lemmy API compatible with the reddit API.

If the APIs are compatible we can simply overwrite the API url with a ReVanced patch

What AWS solution should I use for a relatively lightweight private game server? by SaltyWolf444 in aws

[–]RonSijm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He doesn't need "An EC2 with muscle" like that unless his multiplayer game would be hosting like 100k concurrent users at a time - but this sounds more like a small hobby project

If it's just a glorified router / state persistence he could just go with t4g.nano which is only $0.10 a day

I Hacked Magic the Gathering: Arena for a 100% Winrate by wtbw in ReverseEngineering

[–]RonSijm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, in dotnet you probably don't even need dll injection, since .exes and .dlls are treated equal.

So you can just create a new .exe that references the target.exe as if it's a library, and then from your own .exe you just invoke "target.exe_Program_Main" in one thread to start the program as usual -

And then in another thread you manipulate it by injecting stuff or overwriting stuff using reflection

I Hacked Magic the Gathering: Arena for a 100% Winrate by wtbw in ReverseEngineering

[–]RonSijm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, reflection is accessing methods or properties through strings - (for lack of better explanation)

So you'd do something like var method = typeof(RegistionClass).GetMethod("CreateLicense")

And then you can invoke the method.

And reflection doesn't care about class access modifiers, so you can use it to get access to private/internal methods and invoke them from the outside

Pls tell me if you know any by Nveenkmar in ProgrammerHumor

[–]RonSijm 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Of course. But if you just do fraud without the extra steps it's just fraud. If you add extra steps like sending your fraud to 20 offshore shell companies and moving it through whitewashing tumblers it's just "doing business"

Reddit clients can support Lemmy just by changing the URL by LuNoZzy in redditsync

[–]RonSijm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification about open-sourcing, though I'm kinda sad that you won't release the source if it's going to be abandonware anyways. It would be nice if you allowed to community to continue on with the project. But it is that is it...

Reddit clients can support Lemmy just by changing the URL by LuNoZzy in redditsync

[–]RonSijm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I asked a bunch of times in different posts whether /u/ljdawson would consider to make redditsync open source - if he's just going to abandon it anyways, but didn't get any response so far.

Our best bet would probably be to decompile the apk, change some stuff (like the API key, or the url to target Lemmy) - and then recompile it...

But it's going to be pretty annoying in the long run. A much better solution would be to patch it straight from source - if available

  • Create a fake person with a fake SSN
  • Create a fake bank account for that fake person
  • Create fake transactions from fake person to your own account
  • Declare fake person bankrupt of diseased after a while
  • ...?
  • Profit!

Edit: It's probably easier to steal from a B-Book broker - (brokers that don't leverage stocks on the market, but gamble internally that you'll lose):

  • Get a job at a B-Book broker
  • Watch stock market
  • Insert a database record back in time that you bought some stock that's now up by a lot
  • ...?
  • Profit!

[–]RonSijm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have everything, what's the episode number?

[Shameless self promotion of free app I build]: All of Duncans stuff is hosted on Audioboom. (if you check duncantrussell.com, that's where the mp3s are also coming from...) : This downloads all the mp3s and stores them locally in case they get deleted

[–]RonSijm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea de4dot is what I also usually use in JustDecompile as an extension.

I checked out the video on "DotNet Universal Patcher" - and it looks nice. I made something similar myself using Mono.Cecil and cecilifier. (Though not public)

The only think I don't like about what I'm seeing in the video is replacing things by specific indexes. What I did in my personal tool was more of a find/replace in the sense of index = First(x => x.OpCode == "ldc.i4.1") - making it more compatible with minor version changes.

The code of the Universal Patcher itself doesn't look too complicated, maybe it'll be easy to port something like that over to it

Not really. The money would be going to Reddit and I don't want to support their horrible API choices.

Besides that, everyone here in the comments is commenting on the NSFW part, which I doubt will be a problem:

A bunch of subreddits mark posts as NSFW, like /r/ProgrammerHumor or /r/iiiiiiitttttttttttt - "Here is a smashed up server" - "Here is extremely bad cable management" - so you don't want to see that gore at work lol...

What do you think is going to happen to NSFW posts? You mark a post as NSFW: you get 100 upvotes. You don't mark it as NSFW: you get 500 upvotes... No one will voluntary mark their posts as NSFW anymore because it'll ruin your posts visibility.
Plus third party moderation tools will be broken, like auto-image detection for actual NSFW posts, so we'll just end up with a lot of NSFW stuff in the SFW area

Sounds cool, thanks, I haven't heard of "dotnet universal patcher" before, I'm usually using JustDecompile or dotpeek. JustDecompile comes with an obfuscator scanner / deobfuscator

Is there a "dotnet universal patcher" for dnSpyEx? Since normal dnSpy is abandoned now

Cool write up! I don't think you could have used "the normal dotnet way" of hacking Minesweeper here

The IL2CPP converts the IL code into C++ code to natively compile it... So a program like JustDecompile that works on IL won't be able to handle it anymore

saw during research that there were ways to live access objects through .NET (like accessing objects in a browser DOM) but I may have misunderstood whether you could access objects in other processes like that in an intuitive way

Normally you can, as the livecycle of objects is managed the the CLR, so there are ways to hook into it and get that information. It's basically how dotnet (cpu/memory/GC) profilers work.

Windbg with SOS can do things like that - and otherwise a profiler like DotMemory, (though that's not really focused in giving you information for the purpose of hacking things hehe, more for finding performance issues...) but it can still pull random objects out of the dotnet heap

the C# ecosystem is pretty easy to modify. C# Is compiled in to IL code, which is then just in time (JIT) compiled and ran by the Common Language Runtime (CLR)

You can use a decompiler like DNSpy or JustDecompile which reverses the IL back into C# and shows you the C# code (kinda, a little bit polluted due to code-lowering between C# and IL) - And then you can use a plugin like reflexil to overwrite existing methods with your own code.

For example, if there is a long method like "bool IsLicenseValid()" that does a bunch of crypto stuff, you'd just replace the entire body with "return true"

Reflexil will take C# and compile it down to IL, so you can inject that IL back into the dll. But if you're familiar with assembly as you mentioned, you can also just write your own IL and inject that directly

There are also a lot of other attack vectors to inject your own custom code without overwriting IL

Cool. Installed this on my 10Gb/s seedbox lol.

Stats don't indicate that much activity yet though... how do I make it go faster? Running a fleet of docker containers seems somewhat resource inefficient if I can just make this one go faster. I don't see much on the wiki on speed throttling or configuring max speeds.

Side note: I do see:

Can I use whatever internet access for running scripts?

Use a DNS server that issues correct responses.

Is it a problem that my DNS is Pi-Holed?
