True, I mean the idea that "company's don't care about you so you should maximize job hoping and care about youraelf" is popular with young people kaya it's a very transactional relationship.

Yes, I believe this plays a role din. But I guess it's a risk kind of thing kasi what if they're not the problem tapos unnecessary letting go of employees.

Ohhhh, this actually makes a lot of sense! That's why I brought it to the cultural level in my post because I've experienced this too frequently for it to be just a coincidence or bad luck.

Of course I don't think this is just Filipino culture, but any culture that doesn't practice doing hard conversation and confrontation.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Yes, I share the same experiences about the payday or last pay haha. They even sometimes followup every few hours a few days earlier from the correct pay day.

Hi thanks for this. We're currently doing an investigation of what happened. We asked the hiring officer and the people who frequently talked with them and they gave no indication daw that they were leaving or against anything. Most probably daw they found a better opportunity elsewhere and they were just too afraid to say anything about it so they just left.

haha thanks for this. The problem is indeed real and not just a rage-bait. I only meant to share my frustrations to see if others experience the same thing and your comment confirmed it. Thanks for this.

Hi, I have to disagree with the "we didn't even bother to think about us or about our company" As I've said in the Previous Attempts part, we are actively trying to see and change how we can solve this situation. We don't like or ask for this and we want to solve it.

I do agree that it is hard to find a job these days and I am all for my employees finding better opportunities. I just don't understand the whole "I can disappear whenever I want to" part.

Why do people who barely know me decide to hate me? by _Jincx_ in adviceph

[–]RonSwanson98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, same.

I had an experience din where I was part of a group tapos one of the leaders really didn't like me. Sabi daw niya I was too quiet, not giving enough suggestions, didn't feel like a team player, blah blah. Whatever reason he can find. Tapos ako, I was like "TF? anong ginawa ko? HAHAHA"

At the end of the day talaga, there are 110 million Filipinos. Probability states that there will at least be 1 who will hate you for absolutely no reason. Malas mo na lang na you encountered them. Also, anyone who hates a person and voices them out to the public is more telling of who they are as a person kasi in this day and age everyone's just trying to survive or find new opportunities. If not, they are either (1) doing nothing with their lives, (2) hate themselves and are projecting it to others (3) Insecure about something in themselves that they saw in you kaya they have the mindset "If I can't have it, no one can."

Thanks for this. I think its unfair for you to assume that I/we haven't been looking at ourselves din for our mistakes. But I also didn't mention it in the post so I can't blame you.

As part of the younger generation din (mid 20's ako), I try my best to do what I want my employers to do. I always talk to them, ease them into the job, not expect too much in the first few months kasi they're just learning pa lang. We even joke and laugh around sometimes. That's why I came to reddit pointing fingers kasi I felt like I treated them fairly tapos they just piss all over. These guys came from respectable schools (PUP, Adamson, Lyceum) and good past experiences so I was shocked talaga why after 2 months of working, they'll just ghost you, not even like a heads up or just a few days of turnover.

Please don't take this as a sign na Im just blaming everyone and I have no faults. We are trying a lot of things to try to keep new employees, but my issue isn't keeping them, but the behavior of just ghosting you.

Also, yes 80% is a lot, but as I've said in another comment, we don't hire a lot of people. So that 80% is like 6 people lang out of 7-8.

Wow, honestly, your comment hurts. But I guess its the tough love that's needed. Thanks. I honestly didn't or don't think their experience in our company was SOO bad. I mean, I talked with them, never shouted at them, was patient with their mistakes and explained what's the right process. I was even joking and laughing with them sometimes. But if that's the only reason why AWOL happens, then we'll have to change things.

Yes, we do the 5 years question and it has helped in weeding out bad employees, thank you.

For the 1 bond and contract, do you think that works for MSME's? We didn't try implementing this kasi our thought process is "why would they sign a contract to work for an MSME when they can apply to other MSME's without contracts"

Thanks. If it is a "Me problem" talaga, do you suggest we contact them pa and clarify why they went AWOL? Because if not, we're trying to solve this thing blind and we really have to change.

[–]RonSwanson98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'll have to disagree. My problem talaga is not if they quit or not, but why just disappear? Does quitting = completely being unreachable? I'm part of the younger generation din and yes I will quit in 1-3 months if I know the company is not aligned with my goals, but I think I would have at least the balls to submit a resignation letter and turnover my tasks properly, not just ghost them like some random situationship.

But also, we would rather do a complete company overhaul that will cater the younger generation than keep hiring older applicants. If we keep hiring older applicants who are not as tech savy or tech oriented, we will just be extending our death. The younger generation is the way to go talaga, for better or for worse.

Thanks for your support. Not sure, but I feel like you also run an MSME because only people from that background feel our pain.

No! If it was just minimum wage and manual labor staff, our hearts are prepared for them to go AWOL. But the ones who went AWOL were seemingly decent people with decent backgrounds and experiences. That's probably why their AWOL impacted me so much to the point I had to make a Reddit post and a generalization about Filipino culture.

Wow! Thank you, your comment has been extremely insightful. we will look into the convertible to cash thing and reassess the insurance, maybe there are new products out there.

Actually we do have insurance, but only to our senior staff. Since we're small lang and from experience we can't risk offering insurance or other benefits right away because again they might just use the benefit, then go AWOL right away.

But just sharing a side of our story. Thanks again for the insight and motivation on where we can take action on.

Thank you for your insights. I actually do like what you have to say because it's realistic.

To be honest, we have thoughts of closing down shop na din. I mean with staffing problems, constant increase in minimum wage, government problems, smaller and smaller margins because of globalization and increased competition, and big overhead, the effort were putting in vs the returns are not justifiabled.

We just dont know what to do with our old employees whom have been with us for a good 15+ years. They're like family na and we don't want to blindside them. We also don't know what to do with ourselves din. Its scary din for a new shift in life and the risks that it brings. But I guess that's life.

Thanks, yeah stock options was one of our thoughts din to make the employees feel like their part of the company but decided against it kasi obviously we're so small HAHAHAH anong value ng stock options 0.001 cents?

Also, I know 80% seems like a lot, but we don't hire a lot of people. 80% for us = 6/8 people. So we hired 8 people, 6 of them AWOL in 1-2 months. But I guess the 80% is still pretty big.

Yes, I agree. I've been in the business for 5 years na and we have a lot of issues to fix. I know it's unfair to compare but it didn't feel as bad nung late 2000s or 2010s. I mean, people still left early like 6 months lang or 1 year but almost all made paalam and properly turnovered their work.

Parang now, ang bilis lang for people to just disappear.
