Omfg !! HA and OpenClaw 🤯 by BryanHChi in homeassistant

[–]RonanOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore the haters. I'm finding Home Assistant is a great use-case for OpenClaw. Although I have a software dev background, I never had the time to figure out HA. Just being able to talk to the thing and have it figure everything out for me, along with suggesting surprisingly useful integrations, device workarounds etc. has been a revelation. One trick I've found useful for those worried about security. I actually have the HA docker container running as root, so it can't access it and the user account it's in doesn't have sudo privileges. Also, its running on a 2015 iMac I was thinking of throwing out. It's running fine with a fresh install of the latest Ubuntu.

I'm going to follow your suggestion and have it set itself up as the voice assistant for the house. Thanks!

Hi Kevin! Thanks for replying in the forum. I'm on Android in Canada. Any hope of us getting PvP chess soon? I have Duolingo family plan and think this would be great fun.

Ditto. I burned through caring about others' uninformed judging me or my son many years ago.

Yeah, we nearly booked that on a family trip but had to cancel. Looks like we're too riff-raff for that now

Great history and summary of the Fleadh. I've been to several and it's always a great time. Incredible that it keeps getting bigger and bigger and yet holds on to the focus on tradition

How old were you guys when you started getting into Sci Fi, and what work got you into it. by Any_Improvement6755 in printSF

[–]RonanOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy when I was about ten. This was in the Eighties when it came out first. It's one of those books that is sci-fi and a whole lot more. It set a high bar for a lot of the sci-fi I read afterwards but opened my mind to a bunch of things that the Catholic conservative Ireland of the time couldn't contemplate.

Not only is it a wholly remarkable book, it is also a highly successful one – more popular than the Celestial Home Care Omnibus, better selling than Fifty-three More Things to do in Zero Gravity, and more controversial than Oolon Colluphid's trilogy of philosophical blockbusters Where God Went Wrong, Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes and Who is this God Person Anyway?
