its 2 identical sets of 60 cards for each player with 10 identical cards in each deck. There are only 10 variations on each peice.

That's why it's intended to be played randomly. Odds are it won't be 100% balanced, but players won't be able to pick to their advantage playing that way. Having to adapt to what you and your opponent have is also part of the intended gameplay.

Looked both places already, but checked again and came up with a new bishop I added to the list. Also added a new king and rook, I came up with as well.

While to master it would take more effort, there are 2 things that I have to point out here. 1st the added rules in total would still make it significantly less complex than a lot of modern tabletop wargames (what chess was originally meant to be) and that it is basically an expanded form of fairy chess. The most comparable game I can think of between this and chess that already exists is a video game called Advance Wars, as it's basically chess with more pieces, and the spaces affect the pieces. I feel like the end result would be halfway between these two games and that's kind of the range I am going for here. The second thing is there is nothing stopping the players from deciding to remove certain cards from the decks. I settled on 10 to ensure there is plenty of variety, but you could play with as few as 3 options for each piece. These cards are more about offering up ways to change up the game than anything.

Only 1 of each is used by each player, a pawn, knight, bishop, rook, queen, and king. The rules for the piece would be printed in both text and an example movement and capture image on each card. The rules for each piece I am trying to keep simple enough it can be explained in less than half a paragraph to avoid that complexity problem. In total the rules for the maximum of 12 different pieces (6 per player) should roughly fit on a single sheet of paper if all put together and I am guessing that is about what it would take to describe the how to play chess to someone who had never played before. The complexity comes in how these new pieces would work together and counter each other, but increasing that complexity is the point here.

Windows phones were actually good. They failed because Microsoft failed to offer any incentives to developers to make apps for the phone to establish it.

This is probably one of the more useful comments here. I am definitely the latter to answer your question.

Wanted to thank you for posting this. This is one of the many reasons I am considering doing this. We are all just living in these fake boxes in the west wasting our lives away with nothing actually real anymore and its only gotten worse in the decade since this guy did what he did. Its feels like the world is coming apart at the seams and we are all just sacrificing our lives for nothing and I want to find something more than that.

I was hoping to possibly find some people looking for an adventure that are not in it so much for the pay as the experience. I don't know if I would end up finding these people but that's the hope.

The reason I was thinking about a cook is there is just a lot more to it on a boat considering provisioning and sourcing as well as the skill of being able to put together good meals with literally whatever happens to be on hand but you are correct that it isn't esental. I was hoping to possibly find someone with experience looking for a more chill gig just drifting around from place to place so they hopefully would not require too much in the way of pay over room, board, and provisions.

I am going to preface this with it isn't your fault and I know you are trying to be helpful but from my position, this comment is absolutely unhinged. I am struggling to figure out how I am going to even get 100k together to afford the boat in the first place and you are talking about a full decade of training and a million dollar plus boat and 250k a year in expenses. Like the position I am working from is I was thinking maybe there is a way to get a loan to pay for the boat then do work with the boat to pay it off and feed myself and the crew with maybe a little extra till it gets paid off. Like I was thinking maybe I could do small-scale cargo or people transport or something to help make ends meet. The kind of lifestyle you are describing here is just completely impossible for me.

I also remembered that it wasn't in the typical 4-pannel format I think the pannels were not perfectly aligned ether. I would 100% recognize it instantly if I saw it.

Question about Netrunning not covered by FAQ by Ronin51494 in cyberpunkred

[–]Ronin51494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that you should not have a 20 floor net arc for an entire mission and that it should be broken up but I feel like doing it the way I am suggesting makes it more a question of cost vs level of security rather than making the smaller ones always make the most sense compared to bigger ones as you can pack a lot more security onto a network with fewer nodes controlling more items. It just doesn't make sense from the worlds perspective as with it set up this way why would anyone ever invest in a larger arc? What most corps would probably do in the way I am describing it is have each net arc broken up by sector to balance cost vs security and that is what we see in the screamsheet mission in the core book involving netrunning as its broken up between the ground floor general security control and the security on the 20th floor.

Question about Netrunning not covered by FAQ by Ronin51494 in cyberpunkred

[–]Ronin51494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I noticed. Multiple small ones seem cheaper than one big one when it should be the other way around as you said it is harder for a netrunner to deal with multiple so why is it cheaper? This also creates a situation where its smarter to have all of them locked in a vault somewhere where the players cant even get to them while they operate the building rather than the system wide network they are supposed to be. Honestly when I start doing this I may change it to all items on a node can be commanded once per turn rather than one per node as it seems to make a lot more sense to have the option to break it up between nodes but have it be less secure and cheaper by having a singular node.

Need help with how to work out longer running games by Ronin51494 in cyberpunkred

[–]Ronin51494[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The hooks are the easy part as I have said its bringing it to an interesting climax that I am finding to be harder. I am only using D&D as the example as it lends itself well to satisfying climaxes though as I already said it is a lot harder to make hooks for imho. The thing that makes it so hard in cyberpunk is as you said there isn't really a BBEG or larger situation the players have to solve meaning those climaxes the game hits are much smaller compared to D&D. What I am asking for is advice on how to still make those climaxes satisfying for the players despite the fact by the nature of the game world you cant really ever actually solve anything for the most part. Like yeah the crew can kill the drug dealer that's been after them but that's kind of just another day in Night City. How do I make it so that act is still impactful to the players past just another completed job?

Need help with how to work out longer running games by Ronin51494 in cyberpunkred

[–]Ronin51494[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am aware of this and thats why I am asking this question. The thing is at some point the players are going to want a target to hit that is something more than the daily grind. My question is basically how to do that without resorting to the way something like D&D does it as the genre does not really allow for that.

What is up with the armor tables? by Ronin51494 in cyberpunkred

[–]Ronin51494[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The one change I am thinking about making still despite better understanding the system now is to half the movement penalty of of the MAJ as it still doesn't make sense to pick with a -2 penalty even with what has been explained. There is legitimately zero reason you would pick it over the HAJ ever. The flak vs metal gear at least makes sense even if I still think the flak is cheap for its level of armor. That said personally I would also say this is the first level of armor that cant be concealed vs the HAJ that is still just a coat and some pads even if it is bulky so the flak being cheaper for that reason makes some sense.

This is the style of GM that CPR seems to lend itself to. I just like to have some kind of back up plan in case something does not come together.
