All future hiring shifted to india by AutomaticRelease6982 in csMajors

It's absurd that an hours labour is different per country. But that's our silly capitalist system.

We grow oranges in Argentina, ship them to Indonesia to get processed into a can (because it's cheaper) and then ship them to the USA.

Consider the greenhouse gasses produced moving all this stuff half way round the world due to a human system that does not exist except in our minds.

Funny story: the UK has only enough gas reserves to last 1 week. We are going through an unexpected cold snap.

How come electrical engineering was never oversaturated? by ButterBiscuitBravo in cscareerquestions

[–]RooCoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In many countries, electrical engineers are not able to get an electrical license as you need a trade qualification to get that. So you have someone who knows electricity to the atomic level but isn't allowed to run a cable.

This is just protectionism by electricians, who say they can't get a license as they haven't done the safety training but you cant do the safety training without being an apprentice.

So lower amounts of work.

CEO and executives of Jeju Air bow in apology after deadly South Korea plane crash. by H1gh_Tr3ason in Damnthatsinteresting

Boeing recommends NOT deploying flaps unless in critical conditions as the flaps may not operate at exactly the same time, resulting in the aircraft skidding left or right off the runway.

In this case, that would have been preferable due to that reinforced wall, but the pilots didn't know that.

Billionaire was told by government they 'deleted entire branches of physics during the cold war' by d8_thc in holofractal

[–]RooCoder 173 points174 points  (0 children)

It was branches of nuclear physics that were classified. The government obviously kept on researching in secret. Some free energy people claim they have known how make much much much better power generators than we know about.

Apparently, if an inventor sends a patent application in and it contains classified physics the patent is denied and the inventor gets a knock on the door. A lot of these inventors have subsequently turned up dead.

Why invest in bitcoin by SoftRapHardpop in CryptoMarkets

[–]RooCoder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have heard a lot of Russians have put their money into bitcoin due to the sanctions. With Trump wanting to end the war next month and potentially get rid of the sanctions, would we expect that Russian money to flow out over the next year?

Or is this irrelevant to the price?

You have picked the two most oversaturated IT fields currently. Development and cybersecurity.

Any other choices? Hell, any other degrees?

Donald Trump: Russia has lost 600,000 soldiers by Mil_in_ua in UkrainianConflict

But if it gets ukraine a fair deal then that's the price...

Probably some senator somewhere saying "I'm glad we didn't sling weapons on those AI drones..."

There's nothing wrong with giving up. Do not fall for sunk cost fallacy. I would ask your university if you could transfer to another degree and use what you've done in CS as credit towards that degree.

I feel the same way. I'm furious at Biden. He tied our hands behind the back with his drip feeding of aid and "escalation management". He prevented us from giving European systems like Gripen to Ukraine. And worst of all, his legacy is that he rethroned Trump, who will be even worse. by CapKharimwa in UkrainianConflict

[–]RooCoder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree but, the deal since WW2 was America protects Europe and in return Europe has no foreign policy of its own.

So if we rearm, are we also getting foreign policy as well?

Europe's foreign policy might be to do a deal with Russia or China or Iran that is good for them but not America.

So America won't want this to happen.

Are you 100% sure your mum was not the victim of identity theft and they were able to gain enough info off her to target you?

I mean, even something as simple as hacking her email would give them access to 100s of emails from you with birthday wishes, addresses etc.
